Bush and the Republicans have put America so ass deep in the shit over the last 8 years, it'll take some serious sacrifices to get it out. Obama needs to raise taxes - but not on the middle-class - and he already stated that was the plan. It's going to take a solid 2 years to get America unstuck. And another 2 to begin fixing all the bridges Bushco burned. Obama isn't a miracle worker - and never claimed to be - but the guy is going to be picking up the pieces after one of the worst governments in American history, so you may want to consider cutting the guy some slack.
You shouldn't worry about that. Where you need to keep an eye on him is getting government regulation back into the markets. It's been proven time and time again that when it's a free-for-all, the capitalist pigs of Wall St. will always take the money and run and they don't care if that tanks the country and the world, so long as they get theirs before it happens. Anti-trust was implemented for a reason. It was gutted by Reagan, and now the system needs to be returned to equilibrium, or you're simply delaying the next massive financial crisis which is entirely avoidable like this one was. Pick up and read Harper's Novermber edition for their economists forum on how to save capitalism. Common sense never sounded so good.
I could go on forever about the fallicies and bs in the comments about Obama and what he does, but all of those bashing Bush and how he has "torn the country apart". Be reminded, Even at his lowest point, he had a hell of a better rating than House and Congress!
Wow, so the lowest approval rating in history for a president is an achiement to be proud of? Bushco did tear the country apart, and set the vast majority of the globe against the U.S. as well. Remember Karl Rove's "permanent Republican majority"? To govern from an extreme right-wing point-of-view as if they had an absolute majority, and fuck everyone and everything else. Well, they now see how that's worked out, hasn't it? There was a great article on this in the Washington Post back in August that shows how out of touch they really are.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/08/17/AR2007081701713.htmlObama isn't a miracle worker, but he will set the country back on the right track, so long as everyone else does their part. The only thing that will hold him and the country back are the entrenched, anti-partisan republicans that would rather see the country wallow in shit than not have their own way, then conveniently blame it on the democrats as always.
