Out of the Blue

What? We know who is going to be the next president without recounts and court decisions? I guess that's democracy FTW.

Let's hope Obama doesn't suck as a president.

He's never run a small business let alone a city or a state. Plus he was only in the Senate for a few months before deciding he could take on the job of Pres. Mind you that this was just months after he said he wasn't qualified to do the job.

So yes, I think it's safe to say... Corporate America, the Senate, and Congress will continue to run this country.

Congratulations, America. I wish 51% of you had figured out what a disaster Bush was four years ago, but I'm impressed with how relatively quickly so many of you have come to your senses again.

By the look of many world-wide polls, the planet is collectively sighing in relief.

I don't know about anyone else, but I think that the world probably feels a lot more positive about the future tonight. I sure do.

Thanks.

I can just picture Cutter there in the crowd and now at home sitting in front of his key board with his Change button on waving his Obama flag.

Oh, by the way... half that crazy shit you just spewed sounds worse than the crazy shit you're accusing Republicans of causing. Are you the guy who accused George W. of calling down Hurricane Katrina onto Louisiana? Get a grip!

Way to make gross generalizations there ; Just because some people in a group are idiots doesn't mean all of them are.

On a positive note, grats to Obama.

Yeah, I am REAL excited to see what kind of "change" he brings after all the fucking hype. I hope he doesn't tear apart the country in the process. I also hope he doesn't bring his hate-filled foul-mouthed preacher to the inauguration ceremony to preside over the oath of office. Yeah, that would be a real hoot.

Yeah, like McCain's supporters booing every time he mentioned Obama, real fucking classy. Then you pinheads wonder why you got crushed and why you're being left behind. It shows how out of touch with America and the world you hardcore republicans are these days. Evolve or die. Or right, they don't believe in evolution, so the sooner they're the gone, the better off the world will be.

As for the "change" if by that you mean like how Clinton took 12 years of massive republican debt, unemployment and unnecessary war he turned it all around in 8 years into a record surplus, the lowest unemployment rate the country has ever seen, and a world that loved America, then yeah pretty much everyone is not only ready, but desperate for that sort of "change" again. Only to be trashed even worse by another retarded republican over the last 8 years. So yeah, there is, in fact, no possible way that Obama can do any worse because there's nowhwere left to go but up.

Trickle down? It was a gush up. Corporate America (the banks and oil companies) are what caused this whole mess.

For the past ten years the banks went from making safe common sense loans to lending half a million to people who couldn't even afford the interest only loans on the house they were buying... let alone the hundreds of thousands of dollars cash out they were getting with the refinance of that huge loan six months or a year later.

Then a year or so later they would make them another loan to buy a second house they could afford before they went into foreclosure on the house and monster size loan they couldn't afford.

So while people like me who are staying within our means keep making house payments other people who bought mansions on interest only loans just let the banks take back a house that is now worth half of what they bought it for. And skate away from hundreds of thousands in debt. But get this... most are still living there in those same houses they can't afford. Living there free of the mortgage payment. Just paying the utilities because the bank would rather you keep up the house and yard then to let it fall apart and cause them more of a loss. And since there are no buyers there is no reason to force them out.

I know it sounds crazy but everyone I know here in Cali knows at least a couple people doing the things I just described to you.

So who gets left holding the bag? Surely not all those you're expecting a trickle down onto. And is it any wonder why the economy went nutts over the past few years? My house was going up an average of five thousand dollars a month for a couple years. I kept telling my wife we need to sell and rent an apartment until the bottom drops out. She wouldn't listen.

One thing he won't have to fix... the economy. It's already righting itself.

You haven't even begun to see the fallout from the economic collapse. So far all it's done is hit the financial sector, but there's been no trickle-down from there yet. Once that happens, once the public in general starts getting hit, then you'll have the real crisis on hand.

And since drilling for oil was the mantra of both parties during their campaigns the Middle-East finally pulled their heads out their asses and lowered the over inflated oil prices back to were they should have been to begin with.

Oil prices aren't controlled by the Middle-East. They are controlled by market speculaters.

Because they are hoping and praying America won't start drilling and cut back on our need of their oil.

The amount of oil the US could drill be doing more off-shore drilling is relatively miniscule compared to the amount that it consumes. Drilling will have a very minor impact on oil production.

I don't think we have ever had a President as radical as Obama.

You really should look up some of the first 40 Presidents if you think Obama is "radical".

He'll need a magic wand to do even half of what he has promised.

Edit: nin, I don't think we have ever had a President as radical as Obama. So it will be very interesting to see what happens over the course of this four year term.

And the majority in both houses, by all appearances. No excuses at all for not implementing whatever vision he has.

Oh noes, a black, muslim communist will rule the USA! He's probably gay too. And eats kittens for lunch.

Seriously, I'm slightly enthusiastic that maybe in the next years I will start to like America again.

Because they are hoping and praying America won't start drilling and cut back on our need of their oil. As we watch the prices drop some states are seeing prices below two dollars a gallon again after a summer of over five dollars a gallon? And yeah, the US Gov't has to shoulder some of the blame...

Going to be interesting to see what happens. My guess is nothing... out of the ordinary. Politics as usual.
