WoW Paid Customization Coming

WorldOfWar.Net has a tidbit from BlizzCon, where Jay Allen Brack was asked about indications from World of Warcraft game files that paid character customization may be coming to Blizzard's MMORPG. After seeming to avoid the question at first, he eventually confirmed that paid-for character customization is indeed in the works, though no further details are provided.

This is really sad. First SCII split and now this. Looks like Blizzard has gone completly out of touch with it's fans.
Perhaps you should check out the announcement of the Starcraft Trilogy at Blizzcon. Prado went through the three options they were considering (not letting the crowd know which way they had gone) and the FANS CHEERED for the option to make 3 epic campaigns, but selling them separately. The other two got "boo"s and silence respectively.

I'm pretty sure the fans are getting exactly what they want.

You can't change skin color, gender, or facial features at the barber shop. I'm hoping that's what they're referring to with this.

That seems to be what most are taking it as. Character changes you made at the beginning of the game, that normally couldn't be changed.

And like server moves, they don't want people doing it constantly, so they put a fee on it...

Seems like a non-issue...

Hey Blizzard guess what, I have already bought wow, tbc and have wotlk on preorder. And I pay the monthly fee as well. And now you have the nerv to ask me for MORE?! What the fuck is that about? The whole point with subscription fees is that that fee covers everything for the player. We're not supposed to pay montly fees plus additional fees morons. Whats next, gee tatoes for $10, maybe unique colors $20 and so on. This is really sad. First SCII split and now this. Looks like Blizzard has gone completly out of touch with it's fans.

First they slice Starcraft 2 into little pieces to be able to sell it a few times over, now you can pay more money to have your WoW character customised.

I think it's pretty clear that it's now Activision calling the shots over there.

RIP Blizzard.

It seems ridiculous to reward players willing to spend more money rather than those more dedicated to the game. I'm sure it's a great business move, though.

Well given that you can already do that in the expansion without paying a cent... I doubt thats what they are talking about. We'll just have to wait and see.

Unless this just means you can pay to change your character options like during creation that would be fine by me, but I hope they stop adding things you can only get by paying them more.

Anything associated with WoW will sell. The brand is a license to print money. I am glad I never got the bug myself.

I have given up on waiting for BIS to come back to their senses and do a real ArmA 2 successor.

This has better be cosmetic and cosmetic ONLY - otherwise it will just be a game full of microtransactions to get the best stuff.

Paid for character customization and all those neat things that could have been filler content between expansions, rare boss drops, or even engineering stuff coming from the card game... I almost think they want me to just stop playing.
