Rage Q&A: Digital Distribution Still Possible

The Interview with id's Tim Willits and Todd Hollenshead on 1Up talks with two of id Software's co-owners about Rage, their upcoming first-person action game. Topics include the switch to EA as a publisher, the state of Rage and Wolfenstein development, the Tech5 engine, difficulties with outsourced development, and a changed perspective on the possibility of distributing Rage digitally: "We haven't quite worked through our electronic-distribution. John Carmack [id co-founder] made a comment about the media size, which unfortunately wasn't exactly correct because we haven't crossed that bridge yet. He said it was going to be too large to download, and I was thinking to myself, "You know, uhhhhh, people can do lots of things." So I want to correct that and say that...."

This is about the 3rd time Willits has corrected him now. Gonna have to start banning JC from going out alone or without a muzzle.

Thinking back to what JC was on about when he said some of those things, it was more of what made sense to him than what they were actually doing. After rebuilding my pc last month, I had to redownload about half my Steam collection and that was 22GB, so that for one game on the latest tech doesn't seem to insane yet. Pretty sure Bioshock was about 8GB.
