Until Clear Sky is fixed, install the original, patch to 1.004 (my preference since most mods are 1.0004 compatible and afaik 1.005 and 1.006 are multiplayer only fixes) and install this mod, arguably the most popular and most continually worked on (even now) mod for Stalker.

The original is much more stable and fun as a whole, maybe that will change with patches to Clear Sky. This is the command line I use, there is a -noprefetch but honestly most machines now days can do the prefetch, plus it increases stablity since the textures are already loaded. The -noshadows doesn't mean No shadows only gives you more options in game to adjust to your and your system's best performance.
