Spore Patch Issues

Spore Patch Thread Problems & Solutions on the Spore Forum (the Sporum) outlines problems users are having with the newly released version 1.1 patch for Spore (story) along with possible solutions and workarounds. There seems to be reason for concern based on this Stability Poll on the Sporum, as a very limited sampling (100 votes as of this writing) indicates 36% of all respondents and 42% of those who have installed the patch are having stability issues after patching. Thanks James.

Don't worry, Creston and I will make up when we next have a slumber party.

Funny how you keep posting here Reactor, considering how much better you are than all of us...

Yes, funny that. I am awesome, aren't I?

Actually, although the Blues whining is enough to drive someone mad (everyone mad, actually) there's nothing quite as entertaining as Blues posts when the whining is toned down.

Wow, awesome reply Creston. You must have spent the whole day working out how to whine about someone whining about people whining about games. Truly you are master of your craft.

I think the game is pretty darned fun. But then, I don't whine much about games.

No, all you do is whine about bluesnews. I'd reckon about 95% of your posts are whines at other people who don't share the same opinion of a game like you do. But I guess in your mind whining about other people >>>>>> Whining about games, right?

However, I guess we can all rest assured the prima donna's of the gaming world will continue to enhabit Bluesnews as if their word is law for everyone who happens to pass on by. Such is life, I guess.

See? That merely took a few hours for you to start whining about other people again. Your pathetic squeaks sound like that of a lab rat being pulled out of its cage by a scientist. Why do you even read the comments when they obviously aggravate you so much? You must be extremely lonely.

Roll on the next crazy old man.

I think you fit that role quite nicely. Please yell at us to get off your lawn some more. Troll.

"The DRM is the "root" cause of the problems with the patch. "

says who? You have seen the source code and debugged these issues personally?

How come I keep seeing you chime up about DRM issues like this recently? Didn't you just have an awakening with regard to DRM and it's affects on your paying customers?

Your comments and interest in DRM lately have me a little confused. You do not seem to be the person who wrote that article saying how he was not going to use DRM on his games anymore...

Have you changed your mind with regard to this issue?

That poll is evidence of nothing. Before the patch I had constant crashing in Tribal stages and later. Usually there'd be a pause or hiccup and then the sound would go out and I'd have to hurry and save before the game crashed (because it would crash within the next minute).

Now, after the patch, I've had that happen once, but I get more frequence temporary game freezes which recover with sound intact and now follow up crash. So that's not "stable" by my book, but it is a slight improvement my some measures (personally, I'm not sure I'd not prefer the crashes) there's no way to vote to compare stability or degree of worsening or improvement. So, for all we know it used to be 52% and the patch is still an improvement.

So posting opinions on a highly debatable topic, on a forum which primarily serves as an outlet for opinion based deabte is not to your liking? How bout you keep on rolling somewhere where other people's opinnions dont bother you...

I have a nifty blue line!

the more pressing issue is how those who enjoy the insignificance have become convinced that they are actually having a much greater amount of fun.. and how the bliss of their self-enclosed ignorance has been promoted from the outside

If a person is convinced "they are actually having a much greater amount of fun", then I submit that they are in fact having fun. If a person is having fun with a game, who is anyone to judge whether their fun is "righteous" enough? Or valid enough? A person likes what they like. No need to make them seem stupid because you didn't like what they like.

Me, I never tried Spore - it got scratched off my list when the DRM and account restrictions became known. But I wouldn't presume to belittle someone who bought it and enjoyed it - that is self-important nonsense.

Understand it? That post was a whole load of hooey, as if some crazy, white-haired and dribbling old man had pulled a shaky old soapbox over to preach to us all of a religion which didn't exist.

It's just a game for goodness sakes- not a religious experience. Some people will enjoy it, some won't. Get over it. However, I guess we can all rest assured the prima donna's of the gaming world will continue to enhabit Bluesnews as if their word is law for everyone who happens to pass on by. That was in reference to The Witcher, Marvin.

I wouldn't touch Spore even if I was unemployed and refreshing Digg all day to pass time.

" I just started a new job so I am staying away from good titles until I get into the stage where I can afford to slack off."

Well this won't be on your list then, besides the DRM and account restictions, it just isn't a good game!!

at a certain point you begin to see thru hype - it ceases to affect you in a binding way, and then things may be seen as they are, in their essence - to infinite degrees of depth

for a pitiful game such as this, however - you dont need that much juice to realize how insignificant the amount of fun to be obtained would be.. it (almost, but not) always generally falls upon those games which are lathered in endless layers of hype, to be generally insignificant in terms of actual fun

the more pressing issue is how those who enjoy the insignificance have become convinced that they are actually having a much greater amount of fun.. and how the bliss of their self-enclosed ignorance has been promoted from the outside

how they have let the wool become pulled over their eyes, rather than doing it for themselves - and thus not being able to remove it whenever they choose
