Well actually I'm quite sympathetic to the anti-drm cause and will be more selective of what I buy because of it.

The human mind, when the ego is in control, loves having both individual and collective enemies. Then there is an "us" and a "them" to which you can compare yourselves. The ego also loves the drama. For then it creates pain and this helps you build a painful story of 'me' to which you can identify as 'my story'.

Learning the mechanics of insanity can help you steer clear of it. Nothing wrong with not buying a game, of course. Just watch though how the mind is so very reactive.

Perpetual debt is slavery.

Hey nin, I've been playing Crysis Wars and while I do dislike the activation/DRM system, the game itself is outstanding. There are quirks, like forcing DX9 for Vista to get *much* better performance, and a few in-game bugs, but I'm loving the tank/bridge map! There's a server that just runs this map, and... It kicks ass. It'll tide me over until BF3, maaaybe.
They stopped support for a still buggy Crysis.
They claimed to get better performance in Warhead and now only offer DX9 and 32 bit.
They only offer 6 hours of gameplay (less actually).
They only add 7 new maps and add the older ones to make it look more.
They add a DRM like the one from Spore.

And yet there are people who support em.
Yep, that proves stupidity, ignorance and greed will never die.

I'm not going to get absorbed into an anti DRM/EA war drama... You guys have at it.

Yes, ignorance is comforting, isnt it?

I have given up on waiting for BIS to come back to their senses and do a real ArmA 2 successor.

Score one for Hal Halpin and the ECA. He is right on with his editorial.

This continues to snowball nicely.

I hope you all have also given one star ratings to Crysis Warhead, over at Amazon (It features the same bullshit copy protection as Spore). If not, please head that way now.

Thanks!

EA will just turn to some sort of "just-in-time" content delivery system where you get pieces of the game sent to you over the internet, being even more restrictive and forcing people to stay connected to their servers while you play the game.

Who knows whether it's the truth, but it's very satisfying to think of EA and its idiot developers massively driving gamers to piracy with their bullshit measures.

Eventually the idiots at EA will notice that piracy of their titles has actually been increasing ever since they started implementing activations and limited installs. Once they do, hopefully they'll come to their senses and stop using DRM.
