Peter Molyneux interview Part One on GamesIndustry.biz talks with the head lion at Lionhead about gaming and his attendance of Games Convention Asia, focusing on the burgeoning Asian marketplace. Edge Online reports on Molyneux's keynote address at the convention where he spoke of his obsession with creating a game that will manage to satisfy the needs of both casual and hardcore players.

Molyneux is the king of undelivered hype. Cevat Yerli, and the AoC and Warhammer guys are up there, but they've only done it with one game each. Molyneux does it with every game.

Peter if you're reading all you have to do is remake Populous 1. Not Populous 2 or Populous 3d or whatever just Populous 1 maybe make it isometric 3d like Civ4 did 3d. Update the controls so mouse uses wheel and 3 buttons. Keep gameplay. People will buy it! Please? I don't want big furry creatures like Black and White just Populous remade. hey that's the name for you: Populous Remade. There I just saved you marketing $$

Typical Peter Molyneux dev cycle:

Publisher: "Here Peter, take this large amount of cash and make us something good.

PM: "It will be the greatest game ever!"

3 years later.....

*associate producer has to bind & gag Peter to shut down feature creep*

Launch Day....

Reviews = mediocre

Peter: OK, it could've been better but maybe next time, right guys?

Next Publisher: "Here Peter, take this large amount of cash....."

Daeval how many Blizzard games are MMO's?

Im fucking sick of people thinking of WoW anytime Blizzard is mentioned.

Wow is Blizzards single worst game imho.

There's a difference between the "casual MMO player" and the "casual player." I can't say I ever really thought of blizzard's games as tending to the latter demographic. Heck, even Rock n' Roll Racing had a pretty deep advancement system for its time.
