Rockband 1 was 149 bucks at amazon soon after it was released. Worth every penny for what you get inside. So, it wasnt 200 bucks. The next Guitar Hero might trump RB2 but that is yet to be seen.

Well we already know what the future will bring, since both series will now have all four instruments and they've said that all instruments will be inter-compatible (even with Konami's stillborn effort), so now its a meritocracy. I'm sure that last cycle GH3 managed to win because of such a large install base on the PS2, but now they're less relevant. I'm actually surprised that Rock Band managed to build such a ground swell of support, I thought the $200 peripheral game model was really pushing it.

I'd wager his 6:1 figure includes sales of all games in each franchise. When did Guitar Hero and Guitar Hero II come out? I know Guitar Hero II was a big success. If you looked at sales of the Guitar Hero franchise starting at III, I think the advantage would not be as great.

Besides, don't you think Harmonix, EA and MTV are making a killing on DLC?

Guitar Hero at this point is a lot cheaper for most people than rockband was. How many people already have guitars and what not and it was essentially a $60 price vs a $200 price to begin with.

I think Rockband has been supported a lot better than GH though, with addtional songs and music coming ot that game from every direction.

If Rock Band focus's on making use the the Guitars in the future I think it could easily blow past GH because it would be a game that offers what GH does and more for about the same price.

If the controllers become proprietary though and rock band stuff doesn't work with GH stuff that could change the future of both games substantially.

Who knows, it's really cool to see competition like this though. Great time to be a rythom gamer...too bad I suck and the games and don't want to play them.
