Into the Black

So did you break out your Dreamcast today to celebrate its birthday? Nah, neither did I, but it would have been appropriate. Oh well, maybe next year for its 10th.

Yup.

Had almost all of them, or family member had them, or best friend had them.

My favs were:

Atari systems (billions of games - ok, more like 270 or so)
Genesis
NES

Everything else was just kinda - meh.
Spent a lot of time on Super Nintendo, just never really got into it. PS1 - gave mine away to a family member. Still have and play PS2 - a niche of games mostly, b titles, etc.

I still break out the NES and Genesis - some great titles on those - just utterly timeless. Nothing beats the soundtracks of the games on those two systems.

No Wii
No PS3 (yet)

Played both, glad I have the 360 - although it is being neglected now as well. I am just meh about gaming in general on a console lately.

The cause of all these evils was the lust for power arising from greed and ambition; and from these passions proceeded the violence of parties once engaged in contention.

and that stupid ass fishing rod.....

Heh. I forgot about that! I remember that huge assed controller for Nights...or was that another Sega system? The Genesis did well, the 32X flopped and they immediately tossed out the Saturn (maybe thats where that controller was from) and then came out with the Dreamcast.

As a side note, I have a history of picking the losing system, by buying it - thus damning it.

NES (got that one right)

Genesis (less popular towards the end, but still my fav - I remember seeing a sign for Super Metroid about 2 months after I bought mine, and wanting to kick myself)

PS1 (scratched my discs)

Atari Jaguar (Yeah, I don't know what I was thinking either, besides AvP was badass.)

N64

Dreamcast (took one look at Soul Calibur and whooped out the CC)

Gamecube (took one look at Rogue Squadron and whooped out the CC)

And currently have the Revo (not that other name, dammit) and the 360.
