If you actually have a team of 6 of your friends and are part of a serious league, 6v6 should be fun. As for random play... I can see it now, every game will have at least one of "those guys" that hogs the puck and tries to score on his/her own net somehow just to piss everyone else off.
I too am looking into grabbing this one, haven't bought a version of the EA series since NHL 99.

Before bashing NHL 09, you might want to try the demo. First hockey game I'm buying in 12 years. Be A Pro mode rocks. 6 vs 6 online is gonna kick ass!

Another year, another NHL game. The last one I tried was 2002 if I remember correctly. That's about when gameplay became a footnote in their priorities.
