Spore Login Problems

Electronic Arts UK Forums have word that EA is aware of issues purchasers of the just-released (in Europe) Spore are having logging in, along with other server problems. They say they are working to fix this as soon as possible, and in the meantime, you should remove your clothes: "We are aware that many of you are having login problems with Spore. This is being investigated so please bare with us." Thanks Eurogamer.

only unfortunatly, your full of it.

they can and did play the game, the just didnt have access to any customer content. me and my house mate bought the game the same day, mine would login, his would not.

he got much further than me the first day, only difference is he had creatures created by professionals in his game (and they all looked awsome), and i had ones created by other people (some not so awsome).

yes it shouldnt have happened, but each of your posts just shows your total lack of understanding of the issue.

look in to issues before you comment, otherwise you just end up looking like a dork.

And you've also proven my point. But were too stupid and obnoxious to figure it out.
If you're going to make a game with an heavy online component (ie. online authentication) - you better make sure you have the infrastructure to back it up...
Otherwise, we have what has happened here. Customers have purchased the game, taken it home...and will you look at that! They can't play the stupid thing they have physically sitting in the DVD Drive they just paid for.

While all the pirates happily chug along I might add...

NO IT'S PAYOLA!

Even though that's not what payola refers to in the slightest.

IT STILL IS DAMMIT!

AHHH CURSE YOU EA! You are so evil, your evil deeds don't even have to be called the correct name!

this thing has EA payola ALL OVER IT! Ben Silverman should be ashamed of himself for writing this corporate PR BS.
It's a Yahoo review - it's aimed at an entirely different demographic to sites like IGN, so it's not surprising to see a glowing write-up for an above average casual game.

EA advocates nakedness instead of patience when dealing with problem services!

I think he is talking about the securom/activation crap EA is putting in the game. I for one hope EA dies a painfull death.

Probably. But from the forum thread, it sounds like the login in-game isn't working, meaning you can only play with creatures you've downloaded, or Maxis' ones.

Just like Half-Life 2, Bio Shock and any other game with 'phone home' installation stupidity, the thing crapped out because it couldn't handle the load.
Now if I could only find that foreshadowing post of mine?...
You have to log in to the web service in order for all the online features to work, too, like seeing all your friends' creatures in your game.

You foreshadowed that a game with a large online component will have issues. Congratulations, Mr. Obvious Future Teller, you are an asset to us all.

On a vaguely related note, why isn't the Warhammer Europe site allowing beta activations until Sunday, the day the open beta gets underway? Don't these half-wits realize what's going to happen?

Initial word I'm hearing is that it's rather meh as a game experience. Also they put the three install limit on it. Both of which are very disappointing to hear as I've been looking forward to this game for a very long time.

I'll probably wait it out and see if they drop the stupid install limit after a few months.
