Need for Speed Undercover Announced

EA and Black Box officially announce Need for Speed Undercover (story), which will feature actress Maggie Q in its live-action sequences. The latest installment in the racing series is due on multiple platforms on November 18 in North America and November 21 in Europe:
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – August 15, 2008 – Black Box, a studio of Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:ERTS) today announced Need for Speed™ Undercover, the intense action racing title scheduled for release this holiday. The new game will feature international movie star, Maggie Q, as the lead character in the big-budget live-action sequences that propel the original story forward as players get behind the wheel. EA’s Need for Speed Undercover takes the franchise back to its roots and re-introduces break-neck cop chases, the world’s hottest cars and spectacular highway battles.

“Need for Speed Undercover features a deep and engaging story of spectacular Hollywood-style live-action that will transport players into the fictional world of the Tri-City Bay Area,” said Bill Harrison, Need for Speed Undercover Executive Producer. “Working with talent the caliber of Maggie Q allows us to deliver an unparalleled level of storytelling that will keep players engaged in between 180-mile an hour races.”

Maggie Q, who has starred in Mission Impossible III and Live Free or Die Hard, plays Federal Agent Chase Linh, a seductive handler who recruits and guides players as they go undercover. Players will take on dangerous jobs and compete in races in order to infiltrate and takedown a ruthless international crime syndicate.

“I’ve always been a fan of racing games and working on Need for Speed Undercover was an amazing experience,” said Maggie Q. “I was so impressed by the scope and quality of the overall production that goes into a videogame these days. It was like any other day on a Hollywood set; I felt right at home. The Black Box team is doing tremendous work here and I can’t wait to see the final game.”

Need for Speed Undercover is being developed by Black Box in Vancouver, B.C., and is slated to be in stores North America on November 18 and in Europe on November 21. The game will be available for Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system, PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system, and Wii™ as well as the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, Nintendo DS™, PSP® (PlayStation® Portable) handheld entertainment system, PC and mobile. More information can be found at www.needforspeed.com.

Have they forgotten the Driv3r disaster already ? Gamers don't want a movie. They want a game. The Driv3r devs spent tons an absurd amount on the filming and the game didn't pay off.

They should just make Need For Speed: Hot Bitches, where hot actresses and models lose a piece of clothing every time you win a race.

“Need for Speed Undercover features a deep and engaging story of spectacular Hollywood-style live-action that will transport players into the fictional world of the Tri-City Bay Area,”

"Tri-City Bay Area" huh?

Let me guess, the "Underground" engine will be dragged out for the 6th time so we can all have an "open world" to drive around in while bloom lighting and floating ghost icons show us where the next event is. But, hey, we get to see those wonderful EALA live-action scripts while they drag out the cop AI from Most Wanted and tweak it for "Hollywood style" chase scenes.

Just give people what they want, "Most Wanted II" minus the moronic cut-scenes.

The story will surely be original in the same way that KFC's original recipie is original. That is, it will be an alternative to the "extra lame" stories that games usually tack on these days.

I am really sick of press-release jargon. It's as if the people who put these things out are gripped by invisible hands that carefully edit and suggest until every word of the release becomes a bit of inedible gristle in the tepid pile of liguistic hamburger that is the release.

This looks and sounds remarkably like Most Wanted. While that game was fun, I'd like to see the series go back to its actual roots. Mainly:

- Long point-to-point tracks.
- Unique and exotic locations.
- Super exotic cars (no muscle or tuner, please).

I'm tired racing in big urban environments where every track looks and feels the same.

Elf Shot The Food, I think that's the idea. As they said, they're getting back to the basics:

"Need for Speed Undercover takes the franchise back to its roots and re-introduces break-neck cop chases..."

I hate getting my hopes up for NFS games, as I've been severely disappointed in the past (Most Wanted being the exception since Porsche Unleashed). I like this trend, in theory, of having stories to go along with the races. And from their wording, it sounds like there will be plenty of cat and mouse and mouse and cat (be chased, do the chasing). Maybe...just MAYBE...a return of replays? I can dream.

Because it pains me to come on this forum and see you making such a fucking idiot out of yourself. Shame on you, asshole.

Worry about yourself. Seeing as you are currently the biggest loser on Blues that posts nothing but drivel.
