Edited Fallout 3 For AU Release, Interview

Internode Games Network has a follow-up on the fallout from the banning of Fallout 3 down under (story) saying that the edited edition (story) of the RPG sequel has been approved for sale in Australian territories with an MA15+ rating. It's not clear exactly what was removed to earn this rating, but indications that the game's drug use was being excised entirely were not accurate, as the game will still carry the following consumer advice: "Strong violence, drug references and coarse language." On a semi-related note, there's a Fallout 3 interview on bit-tech.net where Pete Hines answers questions about the game, though this is about the project as a whole, and not about the whole Australian kerfuffle.

would the biological effects of what we would consider overexposure to radiation / fallout be different for lilliputians (of 'Gulliver's Travels?') taking into account that new periodic table from the links o' the day, i am baffled.

New games retail in stores in New Zealand around $90 to $110.

the New Zealand dollar is about 72 cent US.

I paid $20usd over steam for TF2, thats was a $32nzd charge to my credit card. To buy the TF2 part of the orange box in store (which I don't think you could at that time) was $45-50nzd

Also our local retail is often affecded by the Australia market. i.e. Our release of GTA4 was all of the Australian stock, censored.

New Zealand has a rating system that does allow the full game but in being part of the same economic group with Australia, in certain ways, we just are stuck with what their rules are.

You Aussies need to overthrow your goverment and adopt a Mad Max form of leadership and right these wrongs!!

Do it for us Kiwis, your ANZAC brothers!

Wow. That's sad when imports cost LESS than the local copy.

I went to buy mass effect the other day...

Digital Download US version from the publisher. $49.99
Digital Download AU version from the publisher. $99.95
At the time the AUD v's USD was something like 98c to the dollar.
Needless to say, since I can't download the US version, that's a game I won't be playing for quite some time.

Oh, and back on topic, I'll be importing Fallout 3 also.
