A new unofficial version 1.3 beta 4a patch is now available for Battlezone II,
Pandemic's action/strategy sequel. This continues the work on the no-longer
supported game by programmers Ken Miller and Nathan Mates in a beta that has now
gone on for over four years. The patch is available on this
Battlezone II support page,
and a mirror can be found on
The Patches Scrolls.
The recent videos of this seem to indicate a radical change in gameplay since I first read about it (but then maybe the older stuff was a bit vague, and this was always the intention?)
They have some seriously kick-ass animation technology happening with their mechs, in any case
Heavy Gear 1 was awesome. Heavy Gear 2s pc demo release was simply amazing. HG 2 at release however got royally fooked over by Activision. I know, cause I got onto the Shadow Guard HG 2 beta team near the assend before release.
Activision literally took the fantastic PC mp demo release, rebalanced the awesome pilotableness of the Gears and made em too freakin heavy. Thx to Kage and the rest of the dev team for that. Not!
I still hope we see a Heavy Gear III tho. Seein as how Micro$oft doesn`t feel the need to release any new Mechwarrior offerings, I`ll take an Unreal 3 engined or better HG any day.
BZ 2 was an awesome game btw. The visuals were sweet as they come at the time. Damn near photorealistic.
Battlezone and, to a lesser extent, Battlezone II were amazing games for there time. I spent many hours playing MP on these games. I want Battlezone III!
