Fallout 3 AU Fallout

Kotaku Australia has word that Fallout 3 has been officially refused classification In Australia, confirming indications that the content of the upcoming RPG sequel was not meeting the Aussie Office of Film and Literature Classification's standards (story). This makes it illegal to sell the game down under, though it is possible that an edited version of the game will be resubmitted for approval, but at this point Bethesda has refused to comment on this situation. It is not clear why the game was refused classification, as it contains scenes depicting drug use as well as a good deal of gore, either or both of which can run afoul of the OFLC.

I can understand why the German's are a bunch of pussies when it comes to games (after all a new GTA could lead to the next Hitler!) but Australia? It's interesting that more games seem to be running afoul of ratings bodies. Are games getting more violent / disturbing or are the ratings simply becoming more conservative?

And EVERY young boy now wants Fallout 3, because now it's official "cool". You want to play Manhunt? Ask boys and school kids in your neighbourhood for a copy!

Yes. I will not pay for a watered down version and if I cannot legally obtain a copy overseas of the full version, I'll be pirating it.

We can all thank the Attorney General of South Australia, the only fucking cunt out of all of the AG's who refused to allow an R18+ classification, effectively cockblocking the entire proposal which requires unanimous support.

To allow adults to pay for and play adult games.

I used to think the tin foil hat wearers were all nuts but the more nanny state bullshit the government tries to bring in, the more I wonder whether the nuts got it right.
