The heroes are backwards compatible.
Although I like the add of Heroes in Nightfall, they're ONLY in Nightfall. I'm still trying to get through the Prophecies campaign on my level 18 W/Mo and grouping with humans either 1) takes forever or 2) ends in disaster so I'm trying to use Henchmen, which aren't going so well. Saying that you "don't have to group" in this game is pretty much an outright lie.

Thats what Heroes are for....I rarely group with humans, they are stupid.
. Yeah, you could group with Henchmen, but at points in the game the Henchmen were woefully underpowered and you basically had to group. If you couldn't find a group for one of those zones, you were screwed. Then if you did find a group, most of the time they were full of kiddies who'd intentionally botch the mission if you wouldn't give them one of your drops. Maybe they changed the Henchmen since last time I played.
1. You didnt have to group
2. Skills were on rings (ie the name signets etc) so 8 was it, and it was in no way limiting.
3. Its sad a game like Diablo which is another grinder buries news from a far more advanced title.
Bullshit.
I have 6 characters who have achieved the Legendary Survivor title. I have carried zero rezzes on them during their usage. That's what monks are for, sparky, learn to use them effectively.
As for Skill Caps, you farm Elite skills. It's not like it isn't obvious where the Hell they are. It's not something you magicially stumble over.
Increase your skill, novitiate.
You always, always, always had to carry a resurrection skill, whether you used it that mission or not -- just because you might. And you normally have to carry a Signet of Capture
