Blizzard Tease - Updated [Jun 23, 2008, 10:02 am ET] – Share – Viewing Comments
A new Blizzard Entertainment
teaser page is online for your teasing pleasure (thanks Gamer's Hell). Is it a tease
of an imminent announcement? Are those runes? Is a Diablo III
announcement coming? Or is this a Rorschach test? I think I see a bunny, or is
that a football helmet? How many question marks are in this story? And what
about Naomi? Presumably some of these questions will be answered soon.
Update:
IncGamers say they have solved this mystery, saying the image is "a dead
ringer for a rune seen on Arthas' sword, Frostmourne in another picture." So the
image seems to relate to World of Warcraft, rather than Diablo III
or some other game, though it is still not clear what the image signifies.

Am I the only one who sees a human in a space-like helmet? The "rune" is a targeting HUD over one eye.

Yeh. They'll be announcing the relase date for the WoW expansion AND details on the Collectors Edition for sure. I'd bet Zeph's virginity on it.

I find it hilarious that EVERYONE wants this to be Diablo III to the point where they see hell in an image that clearly is not about Hell.

They might have simply reused some art from their WotLK materials for this - the runes aren't really prominent enough to believe that they're meant to be the focus.
Oh, and as someone pointed out, there were a bunch of runes in Diablo II.
I got a Zod rune once, then never found an item worth putting it in. Made me sad...

A few points of evidence aim towards Diablo 3.
Blizzard never do teaser announcements or build ups to any of their expansions.
Blizzard very recently took over the domain name of Diablo3.com
There are 6 days remaining until June 29th: The last day of the invitational, the date both Diablo 2 and Lord of Destruction was released in 2000 and 2001.
There is no logical reason to tease something they have already announced (they have never done so before)

worldofwarcraft.com showed the Starcraft 2 tease splash screen as well, so that means nothing.
Is they will announce the Collectors Edition of the expansion, plus announce the free stuff given out at BlizCon.
