Anyone play this? Impressions? I played the demo and it seemed OK enough.

Regardless, 10 bucks is pretty good deal....

It's not Outlaws, but I liked it. It needs a pretty hefty machine to run on high details.

Hilarious. I've been mildly bitching about having a free weekend since it came out (I think I might have missed one already).

Well, I finally installed Steam and bought the Orange box online a few days ago. It's been a smooth experience. Just working through Episode 2 at the moment and might install TF2 this weekend. Which might be good timing as my lack of experience will not be as noticeable with all the other noobs packing the servers at the same time.

TF2 is painful to play right now... I'm not touching that until the Pyro-fest calms down.

6 or 7 Pyros per team per server? Go Heavy, and pad your stats.

Ditto, this is a very bad combination. Servers full of people wanting to play Pyro, and servers full of noobs. Don't even bother touching the game until next weekend.

Call of Juarez had a lot of potential but the stealth/platforming levels were just terrible. They should have stuck with action. Also, if you kill any horses, it's game over. I understand they wanted to balance horseback combat but that's not exactly a good solution.

Not just that, but IMO Valve went overboard with the Pyro buff. The damage dropoff was put in for a good reason, and removing it completely was just stupid. They should have just toned it down instead.

Seriously? That's just bizarre. You mean if I shoot some guy's horse rather than the guy himself, the game is over?

Now a flood of pyros. I am avoiding this game until it settles down because the achievements are for burning OTHER CLASSES which since everybody is a pyro, you cannot get them.

Not to mention its boring.

Anybody know how I can hack out the chat window? The term "noob" is being burnt into my screen at that area.

I would like a server feature that auto changes team of anybody who types "noob".

Just camp as Demoman and sticky bomb all the pyros, easy money

I usually end up with a crappy team with everybody as pyro and we STILL get raped by SPIES.

They should do smaller weekly updates to achievements for all classes and NOT just dump one class with a billion achievements in one update. That is just stupidity and why the game turns to shite.

I don't remember if it's game over if you shoot the horse or if you kill it. I think it's if you just shoot the horse.

TF2 is hilarious at the moment, though not at all balanced. I've been playing as sniper and they're incredibly effective against pyros. I've finally started seeing spies return to servers as well. There are also plenty of servers out there that put limits on classes and there it plays like a regular game. I really don't understand why Valve releases achievement updates and then opens up the game to new users - they're getting a completely inaccurate impression of the game and it's actually a NEGATIVE one.

The Meet The... series of videos and this free weekend opportunity have put me in the mood to give TF2 a fair shot, but so far it's very ho-hum to me. Any given team is composed of at least 50% pyros right now, and they get boring to pick off. I was pleased to see more teamwork in the pubs than in other games like Quake Wars, but I'm still not sure if this game is worth a purchase. So far, it seems to me like they should have just called it Team Fortress Again rather than Team Fortress 2.

Really good game, definitely worth the $10. I've already completed the game but I'm about to go buy it on Steam right now. It isn't OUtlaws 2, but its the best Western shooter since Outlaws IMO.

Odd thing is that its not being promoted as a new game on Steam. Unless I'm mistaken Call of Juarez was only available to Europe on Steam until yesterday. So for this "spotlight" for only $9.99 came as a surprise as I hadn't even seen it on Steam for North America before.

Seeing as I don't even remember that, I doubt its much of a problem unless you must set out to kill horses. Easily avoidable. There are only a few stealth areas, while not perfect they aren't horrible by any stretch and its a tiny part of the game.

Story was decent that I recall, the Preacher character is great, having him read off scripture while you blow people away is rather amusing, combat is fun, graphics are good and still hold up.

For $10 I definitely recommend it.
