Call of Duty Rumor Debunked

Eurogamer has a response from Activision to rumors that surfaced today suggesting Infinity Ward was in negotiations to become the sole developer of the Call of Duty series, which has had contributions from Treyarch, Spark Unlimited, and Gray Matter. Word is: "A spokesperson for the publisher told Eurogamer it was a total fabrication, and that Treyarch and Infinity Ward would still alternately create installments in the shooter series."

Corrected: Many of whom have now left Treyarch and are now working on other games.

There are still a couple of talented people left over there from the GMI days (I'm looking at YOU, cacabunny!), but they are mostly scattered around by now.

CoD5, which is being made by Treyarch is set back in WW2, will suck ass like CoD3 and no one will buy it after the near perfection that is CoD4.

a game that revolves around throwing and dodging grenades is near perfection? you must be new to gaming.

Treyarch getting out of the CoD franchise would be the best thing for everyone, including them.

Treyarch must really be sweating if they have to produce a worthy follow-up Infinity Ward's effort with COD4.

I really wish publishers would stop milking their franchises. Don't they realize that if you taint a series with crappy installments, the perception of that franchise only grows more negative? Refer to Tomb Raider for an example.

In my opinion, the best one made was by Gray Matter, CoD United Offensive. It's the only one I still play online to this day.
