Since 1.0 wasn't protected by FADE, it's not on the game page at GCW.
Ah, that makes sense. My accuracy didn't go to crap until I patched the game. I think it was because my serial key was blacklisted in the update which triggered FADE.
I'm talking about problems that only become obvious after hours of gameplay (such as gradually decreasing money).
The scene release of Beyond Good & Evil had a bad crack which prevented an essential keycard from appearing late in the game. That was a nuisance and I don't think the crack was ever fixed. However, the pirate community found a workaround.
EDIT: On closer inspection, it seems that later versions of SecuROM (including the one in X2) support triggers. It appears that a lot more devs could easily put triggers in their games, but they choose not to do so.
I think it's because it's hard enough to get your code stable without inserting copy-protection triggers all over it. It's really not worth the effort. Beyond Good & Evil took a week or two to crack and even then, it wasn't cracked properly but the game sold like crap anyway. Good protection won't sell your game.
