Dawn of War 2 Plans

IGN relates a report from Belgian site PCGameplay ("het ultieme PC spelmagazine") with further word on plans for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 2, the RTS sequel hinted at in a scan from an upcoming print magazine (story). Word is:
According to the Belgium-based magazine, the game will support DirectX 10 graphics and multiple CPU cores. The game will reportedly feature cooperative campaigns for both Orkz and Space Marine factions, the only two classes revealed so far. The developers at Relic have been working on the game since September 2006.

C&C3 was also on X360, as will Red Alert 3 - the original C&C was also released on Sega Saturn and Playstation (and worked surprisingly well).

Except those were all ports. The games were designed for the PC, first and foremost. Halo Wars is designed for consoles and if you've seen the demonstration video, it's really quite obvious that they are designing it for the console kiddies. Hell, they spend most of the video emphasizing the concept of rock-paper-scissors balancing, something that even the most basic RTSes have had for years. Witness the debacle here: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/24172.html

BTW, you can see the scans of DoW2 here:

The engine really needs an update, but the gameplay still rocks.

this is the only RTS i am looking forward too.

i currently have all the scans from the german magazine and it looks great.

seeing the space marines actually kneeling behind cover, with all the nice lighting and what not, actually makes it look like the intro from DoW.

I accept that it may be terrible but I'm not going to write it off before it even comes out. C&C3 was also on X360, as will Red Alert 3 - the original C&C was also released on Sega Saturn and Playstation (and worked surprisingly well). I would rather see it released on PC and avoid buying it because it's shit than not have the option at all.

Any chance of Halo Wars making it to PC within a 3yr window? Coming from Ensemble it could be what AoE3 should have been.

...you're kidding, right? You do realize that Halo Wars is being designed for a console? It'll probably be the most shallow RTS ever. It'll make AoE3 look like Civ.

Well, with this and RA3 we should have some quality RTS gaming ahead. Any chance of Halo Wars making it to PC within a 3yr window? Coming from Ensemble it could be what AoE3 should have been.

by cooperative campaigns does that mean you are allied with other computer controlled factions, or that you can actually play the game cooperatively with another player?

If it's anything like RA3, you'll have AI allies that can be replaced by actual players.

Oh gee whittikers! I'm all a-twitter with excitement!! I am DYING for this sequel. DoW was and still is a brilliant RTS.

It probably just means the "global conquest" campaign introduced by Dark Crusade and used again in Soulstorm.

Everyone has coop as a feature until they actually create the game. I'll believe it when they release it.

Just implement all the factions and be done with it instead of putting them in expansions.

Ya that's a realistic expectation. And maybe instead of expansion packs Blizzard could have just released Wow and burning crusade at the same time.
