I've been playing Mythos since the first zone came out. It's a lot of fun, and very Diablo-ish. Needs work still, but it's coming along very nicely. Way better than Hellgate. As for the micro-transactions, last I read they were still trying to decide how to do it, but it sounded like it would be for things that don't affect gameplay. Guess we'll see. It was originally going to be totally free. Then again, it was originally just a networking test for the engine.
It's actually kind of fun but it won't ever replace diablo2 but I will say its better then Hellgate London.
Well, here is Flagship Studios second release, Mythos, which is built right on top of Hellgate:Londons engine.
From what I understand it will be free to play until you want 'good' stuff at which point you can buy it via micro-transaction or hope to get it within the game (which I can't imagine would be very easy if FSS wants to make money off this). So think of Dungeon Runners meets anime oriented graphics.
I'll be passing this for A) Don't want to support FSS EVER again B) This game looks like Hello Kitty with Diablo skills.
