To Three Forums by THQ director of creative management Michael Fitch venting
his frustrations with the state of PC gaming following the closure of Iron Lore
Entertainment (story). The lengthy post outlines concerns about
rampant piracy, how Titan Quest's reputation suffered when pirates reported
crashes (which were caused by failure to properly crack the game's DRM),
complaints about hardware vendors creating compatibility issues, stupid users
and bad reviewers. He concludes trying to look at the bright side: "Alright, I'm
done. Making PC products is not all fun and games. It's an uphill slog,
definitely. I'm a lifelong PC gamer, and hope to continue to work on PC games in
the future, but man, they sure don't make it easy."
There's a lot of stupid people out there." That's on account of not doing "basic stuff, like updating your drivers, or de-fragging your hard drive, or having antivirus so your machine isn't a teetering pile of rogue programs.
What an Asshole.
Here's is an idea why your company failed, You made a game that is almost a direct copy of a game called diablo which came out a friggin decade ago! If I made a game called Full Life and it looked and played exactly like another game that came out 10 fucking years ago (Half Life in case you're not getting the joke) do you think my company would be showered in wealth and everyone would run out and buy the game?!
It's everyone else's fault. Sure. Hardware, reviewers, pc gamers, pirates, did you leave anyone else out?
