Puzzle Quest: Galactrix Announced

Publisher D3Publisher of America and developer Infinite Interactive announce Puzzle Quest: Galactrix, a science fiction-themed installment in this series that started with Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords. The game, which centers around match-four play, was prototyped with assistance from Australia's Film Victoria - Digital Media Prototyping program, and a release is currently expected this fall for PC, Xbox 360, and the Nintendo DS. A preview was posted on GameSpot last week (story) that offers some screenshots and an interview movie with creator Steve Fawkner.

Still one of my favorite games riding on the train.
I wish we had trains to get to work here. Then I could justify getting a DS or PSP.

glad to see a sequel in the works! Like others are saying, there some gameplay and balance issues in Puzzle Quest. Its very easy to exploit your spells once you get around level 35 or so. Yet the game can be way too hard at lower levels when the enemy AI seems to be getting extra turns over and over again.

Still one of my favorite games riding on the train.

I haven't lost a battle since level 25. I just hit 52 yesterday.

My battle with bonuses is 95+, my morale is in the 40's, my cunning is 25+, and my manas are all at 20.

I have some awesome godlike crafted items that do things like +7 dmg with 3 or more dmg and 40% chance to poison, and another crafted godlike that does +4 dmg to enemy when you recieve 6+ damage.

I used to have a bunch of healing spells and spells related to my healing combo but I traded them all in because I never lose health faster than the enemy anymore.

I use thrust and stun to line up four of a kinds and I've been playing so much lately that I can usually see 2 moves ahead and sometimes 3. I amaze myself glancing over the board and seeing possibilities. The key is to play defensively. Never do anything that'll create a 4 of a kind or dmg play for your enemy. If his spells need red mana, never allow him to match red mana etc.

I've been playing PC games all my life and I've never played a game with such depth and complexity to its strategy and planning than Puzzle Quest.

"Hmm four of a kind, drops these blue, stun, thrust, thrust, creates another four of a kind, allows a skull connection with a +5..."

Talking to myself makes it easier.

Yeah, the cheating isn't an issue now. My guy is level 50-ish and, in addition to just having a lot of core stats, has various helpers and runes and all that fun stuff.

It still just drives me crazy at how blatant the cheating is. It was really frustrating when just starting playing, but it just bugs me when the computer *magically* gets like eight chains in a row, all from "new" gems that fall from the top of the screen.
I think I still have like 5,000,000 rune combinations to try. /sigh
Grinding through my dailies,

Still, a good start and I'm curious to see where they go. If it's just a change of graphics, I will not be interested.

if you read that preview you posted, youll see its got alot of new stuff

btw, if you build the right character you can seriously offset the "cheating" of the AI.. my mage could take down 200hp dudes in less than 20 moves most of the time - its all about spell combos

I'm actually at the final boss on PQ now. He's ridiculously over-powered, at least compared to my guy. I've never had to level up just to beat someone but I might have to on Bane.

LESS F*CK*NG CHEATING, PPLLEEAASSEE!
No, this isn't an issue at my level and gear, but it's so blatant.
But anyway, it's neat they're making a new game; I just hope they expand it. As it is, I only play PQ for about ten minutes or so at a time; it's really repetitive and is starting to feel mundane. They need to make all parts of the game (like crafting with the runes) more pertinent, too.

Still, a good start and I'm curious to see where they go. If it's just a change of graphics, I will not be interested.
