I like to play FPSes, not vehicle based shooters.

Amen to that. Vehicles are the worst things to happen to shooters. UT was great until they added vehicles. T1 was great because nobody used the vehicles. T2 would have been much better without the vehicles. T:V would have been less horrible without the vehicles.

I applaud TF2 and CoD4 for their lack of vehicles.

Bottom line: Keep your vehicles out of my FPS, please. If you so dearly want to put vehicles in your games, make a god damn vehicular combat game. I'm still waiting for a proper sequel to Interstate '76.

Go play ANY of the BF2 maps on a full 64 player server (or smaller versions of those maps with lower player numbers) and you will have an intensity of gameplay that goes FAR beyond what quake 3 can deliver.

Hah. It takes BF 64 players to match what Quake 3 does with 2: me and my opponent.

I'd rather gouge my eyes out and play the borefest that is BF2 pubs, bunch of kids just looking to XP grind. I like to play FPSes, not vehicle based shooters.

Someone mentioned OFP2 (Operation Flash Point 2). I never played the first one but it's looking damn good!

Of course Battlefield 3 Bad Company as well. hmmmm?

I wish NovaLogic would release an updated version of Joint Ops.

I am SO with you. I love Joint Ops, and a well-done sequel would be fantastic. I don't know how they do it, but NovaLogic has always been able to kick everyone's ass with netcode in terms of player counts.

If they could increase the AI (maybe add the I) the co-op would be that much better too.

As for WW2 Tribes? That might actually be interesting. Nazis with jetpacks and Panzerschrek rocket launchers ftw.

BF Secret Weapons.

Actually a nice add-on pack....didn't really take off (no pun intended).

But it was a lot of fun.

must finish BioShock.....step away from the 360 and play BioShock on PC....

I have to agree, tribes 1 and 2 still rule the roost. the only "problem" was that the sci fi settings was too ambitious for its time and that could/did turn off some users.

I don't think it was the setting that limited the game's appeal. I think it was the vertical learning wall and the fact that newbs got completely ass-raped for the first month or so of play. Tribes is not a game you can really appreciate until you become at least decent at it.

Why was my post removed?

Is it because I was not on topic and attempting to highjack the thread?

I would say....yes?

when you say "I'm gonna highjack this thread" you are kinda saying "I'm going to disregard the board rules and do what I want". At that point he has to do something *shrugs*

Just my guess anyhow.

They're the guys that made DC for BF42 and subbed to DICE for BF2, right?

As for map sizes and diversity of units, may I point out OFP and ArmA, both of which are far more entertaining than dealing with spawn campers.

Can anyone elaborate on their INNOVATION?

I think Kaos is the group of people that put the Desert Combat Mod out for BF1942, and then helped dice create BF2.

I was hoping that frontlines would be more impressive than this but there are a few things in this game I don't think we're seen elsewhere.

The Remote controlled things, the real time battle upgrades... It doesn't feel very innovative to be honest. BF2 is more impressive than this game.

Yeah, the whole "must capture first objective before capturing second objective" was introduced in Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising, which on the order of large team based "battlefield like" gameplay I would rate higher than what Frontlines offers.

I wish NovaLogic would release an updated version of Joint Ops.

Yes, being able to kill infantry without any recourse by them from miles away is why Battlefield is so great.

"intense" heh. Quake 3 is intense. BATTLEFIELD IS BORINGFIELD AMIRITE.

Also tanks in BF2 are sitting ducks on the battlefield and can easily be blow to shreds by infantry with rocket launcher and of course OTHER TANKS not to mention jets/helicopters.

Why was my post removed?

Is it because I was not on topic and attempting to highjack the thread?

Or is it because I mentioned gametrailers?

Or I mentioned the GDC and a developer video for a game similar to tribes?

Are they aware of the vast amount of open world war games on the PC? These press releases are laughable.....just make shit up and give it to the media....

Maybe they'll try to prove it with a demo. Maybe.

Had the game been in a WW2 or modern warfare settings, it still would have been an excellent game. If Tribes 1-2 came out later its effect would hardly have been diminished.

Just a case of right game, wrong time.
