Out of the Blue

Most years I talk about the Oscars in advance of the Academy Awards®™© and fail to see the program itself. This year I failed to mention them (basically because I lost track of when they were somewhere along the way), but did get coerced by MrsBlue into watching the broadcast. Seems like we saw the appropriate picture when we checked out No Country for Old Men, but as always, will end up seeing whatever we see of the honorees after the fact (There Will Be Blood is the only other choice I'm particularly worked up over).

Got a 91% Should have scored higher, but the test got hung in the middle, and I clicked on an answer to "unhang" it. And I needed a second hint for one of them ...

I thought it was interesting how much peakier the graph got as the years went on. This jives with how I remember it, though. I remember when Home Alone came out, and it was still in the theaters six months later. Sure enough, the graph has domestic box office info for that movie for almost a year. That never happens anymore.

I scored 95, but I didn't take any hints. I got the martini one wrong because I said vodka, which in fact does come very regularly in a martini glass and isn't a martini per se.

You are correct. Same one I got wrong.
After reading the hints - then I would have got it right.
Stupid.

I scored 150 proof. Surprising that I even knew that much about booze when I rarely venture outside the realm of beer for the occasional White Russian.

I also got 97% on the booze quiz. I missed gin and mojito, but got everything else on the first clue. Not bad for a blackout drunk!

I never quite got the appeal of Ben Stiller either. I'd say his last good movie was either Zero Effect or Flirting With Disaster. Lotta duds since then. But at least he's not Adam Sandler.

You must not have followed the link, because no one could say that fresh off a blast of Blue Steel.

My brain shuts off if Stiller is brought up and doesn't allow me to click anything in the general area....same with Zoolander.

Yes that Ebb and Flow site was very interesting.

Very cool.
I hadn't realized previously how big of a summer 1989 was for movies!

Actually, since 89, movies have really picked up in the summer. Some great years in the early 90s, and some great movies.
