New Speedball 2 - Tournament Demo

A new version 1.1 demo for Speedball 2 - Tournament is now available, offering an updated opportunity to check out the extreme sports remake that's due in stores soon. Word is: "Tigers vs. Brutal Deluxe: Who is going to kick the opponent out of the arena? PC players choose one of the two tough teams to play in single player knock-out mode against CPU opponents. With two controllers plugged in to one computer, sports fans even jump into 1-on-1 matches against human opponents." The 440 MB download is available on AtomicGamer, ComputerGames.ro, FileFront, and Gamer's Hell.

I didn't mind the first demo despite it reminding me more of UT than the original Speedball 2. If there's any depth to the team management it could be decent.

I wish the used all their fancy particle effects for more gore. When you played the original you always imagined sprays of blood and shards of armour splintering away, whereas in this new version with the shiny graphics, you can see explicitly that's not happening. It neither looks nor feels brutal. More like handball with some pushing.

I skipped an entire gaming generation with the Amiga unfortunately. I went straight from C64 to the PC, but I did play the original a few times at my friends place. Loved it.

Andy: Yes for the first demo, I wasn't impressed. I still like the 2D old school one. What about the rest of you?
