ETQWTV, and other *TV should be about as live as real live TV-- there's a latency of about 5-10 seconds at minimum, but many broadcasts are shown with 60-120 second delay as to dissuade cheating.

nah, if it's anything like the "TV" for other games the design is specifically to allow thousands to spectate without lagging the match server one bit. Basically the match server streams a "live" demo/replay onto a TV-hosting server which then hosts all the spectators (or connects to a dozen other TV-hosting servers to spread the load).

The end effect is connecting a match to TV takes up resources on the match server equivalent to only a couple of players. But, for the spectators it feels like they are on the same server as the player.

It's really good functionality when you have good tournaments. For these you might get a shoutcast (online 'radio' commentary) too. I consider watching Infensus disarming the dynamite in RTCW at QuakeCon one of my most memorable gaming moments.

Ok that sounds like 'fun' (yes and no). I'll personally have itching fingers. I just can't watch a game being played without playing it myself. It's a bad habbit and it might've cost me some friends in my younger days, I just came to realize here and now

Anyway, the possability is cool!! I wonder if it won't cause latency problems for the players, though?

Oh well...

One more thing, this is one of the few games that had to grow on me. At first I simply and matter-of-factly hated it after giving it a few tries. I let it rest for a few weeks before I gave it another try. Well from that day on, strangely enough, I love the game with me heart and soul.

Just felt like sharing that with ye folks...

Cheers,
Vince

ETQW:TV will enable you to watch tournament matches live(well not exactly live, there will be a time delay) within ETQW itself. Basically, it will allow you to connect to ETQW:TV server that broadcasts matches.

hearing some reports that some servers are having problems with this patch, though I haven't had chance to personally confirm.

Yes, and as was pointed out, should be fixed.

ETQW:TV is also in this patch \o/

I played some just now. It's running smoother then ever with everything cranked. They seemed to have made some really good balancing changes too.

A great game just got greater.
