A post on the 3000AD Discussion Board by Derek Smart announces that Battlecruiser Millennium Gold and the original Universal Combat will be released for free over the internet at some point soon, as the rights to both sci-fi games are about to lapse:

Dreamcatcher's five year rights to Battlecruiser Millennium Gold and the original Universal Combat expires on 12-18-07. I do not intend to renew those rights.

In keeping with my tradition, both games will be released for free on the Internet at some point in the near future.

The year 2000 called. It wants its graphics engine back. If you consider those "good" graphics, I shudder to consider what you believe to be "acceptable" graphics.
