Out of the Blue

It was eight years ago today that Quake III Arena was released. That strikes me as a long time ago for what I still consider to be a pretty modern looking game. Hey that reminds me, I never did beat Xaero… where's that disk?

Xaero is a dick, and Q3 is still one of the top games today, IMO. Screw all this psuedo-realistic squad combat BS that's been trendy in the past few years, I still think Q3 1v1 and TDM needs MUCH more strategy than any of these games.

Christmas light hooks Dec 3, 2007, 11:02
Dec 3, 2007, 11:02

Had to install all the little hooks on the house trim for our Christmas lights yesterday and my right thumb is a tad bit sore.

Put on about 100' or so of hooks at 16" on center. That covered the front of the house. I think the garage and other side of the house will wait to next year. Dormer windows, too. Unless the weather is nice next weekend and I have time to kill, but I have anough on my plate already.

Didn't actually get the lights up yet. Soon.

I've seen folks getting their trees already, starting as early as Thanksgiving weekend. Is it just me, or is that just a tad bit early to get a tree? How can they keep it green that long? I think we'll get ours next weekend.

It makes me sick the grovelling Imus did to get back into the good graces of the media. The guy had nothing to apologize for. The real offensive parts came from supposed black leaders who threw themselves into the limelight in order to advance their own racist/separatist agendas. Illiteracy, violent crime, drug abuse & poverty run rampant through the black community but they had to make sure some old white guy who makes an off-the-cuff remark in humor gets subjected to months of recriminations. Sickening.

HOly crap - I thought the game was newer....although I didn't put the time into it that I put into previous titles...just didn't have the same pull for me.

I remember he would try and rail gun me from the other side of the map, so I'd just hide behind the pillars, and when I heard him coming, step out with the shotgun.

BTW, Q3, and most of the id library are on Steam...I picked em all up awhile back...

I still play Q3 quite regularly. Instagib with rails. The instaunlagged mod and others.

Give me some q3dm17 and you won't see me or be alive for more than a few seconds a match.

How can they keep it green that long? I think we'll get ours next weekend.

It really depends on the kind of tree you get. My mom always got Nobel Firs, the weekend after Thanksgiving. They would stay green long past Christmas, even after they are removed from the stand and not getting anymore water.

but most of the reviews give the multiplayer a bad score because its Q3 with better graphics.

Those reviewers don't know anything ^^

They tried to amalgamate Quake II and III together to create some sort of consolized hybrid everyone was supposed to like. Nobody liked it.

Every shooter should have the hook mod for multiplay. That and the original CTF were the best things to ever happen to shooters. The hook ruled!
