Out of the Blue

It was eight years ago today that Quake III Arena was released. That strikes me as a long time ago for what I still consider to be a pretty modern looking game. Hey that reminds me, I never did beat Xaero… where's that disk?

Umm, what? Why? One is a Single Player story based game, the other is a Multi-Player DM mechanics based game.

I bet he means HLDM, which I also vastly preferred to the Quake DM games. Just much more fun, with the land mines, crossbow, crowbar, and those little critters you could drop on folks (forgot their names at the moment)!

Q3 was a well made game, but personally I preferred Half-life which came out the year before. Two shooters with totally different approaches. Both were good, it was simply a matter of personal preference which you liked better.

Why would you even pick one of the two, or even put them in the same category ry to chose from? Sure they are both FPS, but they are entirely different games. It is great if you liked HL better then Q3, but the way you are comparing them just seems silly to me.

Yeah, the thing about Imus was that sure, what he said was offensive. But that's what he was paid to do - be controversial -- he said dozens (if not hundreds) of other things just as offensive for years and no one cared.

Much ado about nothing.

Where were all these concerned people for the previous X years?

Yeah, I'm sure Imus is all busted up about the 8 million bucks he got for his contract being breached, only to return to the air a few months later. It really must suck to be him.

The guy is a douchebag plain and simple. And the fact that he finally got called on his bigoted bullshit is a good thing. Not that I agree with even bigger douchebags like Al Sharpton and them, but Imus is still a douchebag himself nonetheless.

Every shooter should have the hook mod for multiplay. That and the original CTF were the best things to ever happen to shooters. The hook ruled!

but most of the reviews give the multiplayer a bad score because its Q3 with better graphics.

I don't recall that, but I do know quake4 was not quake3 with better graphics.

Those reviewers don't know anything ^^

They tried to amalgamate Quake II and III together to create some sort of consolized hybrid everyone was supposed to like. Nobody liked it.

We still play regular Q3 games at the office. It's sad that Quake 4 simply isn't Q3 with better graphics.

How can they keep it green that long? I think we'll get ours next weekend.

It really depends on the kind of tree you get. My mom always got Nobel Firs, the weekend after Thanksgiving. They would stay green long past Christmas, even after they are removed from the stand and not getting anymore water.

I still play Q3 quite regularly. Instagib with rails. The instaunlagged mod and others.

Give me some q3dm17 and you won't see me or be alive for more than a few seconds a match.

i remember getting to xaero and being dissapointed with how easy he was.

but that may be because i played q3a 24/7 back then and i was a crack shot with the railgun :p

I remember he would try and rail gun me from the other side of the map, so I'd just hide behind the pillars, and when I heard him coming, step out with the shotgun.

BTW, Q3, and most of the id library are on Steam...I picked em all up awhile back...
