They won't realize that because then they won't have any golly-gee-whiz tech stories to run, at least until the next new fad comes on the scene.

When are main stream journalists going to realize that Second Life and Sims Online are far from mainstream Virtual Worlds. In fact they are both laggy, bug filled games with some innovation but still pale in comparison to more main stream (and far better,) MMORPGs. The article calls the game The Sims Online 'critically important to the history of virtual worlds.' The game was a critical failure and a blotch on the reputation of the industry, at best. SL has some success but is terribly run, lags to death in even empty areas and is more a virtual porn shop then anything else.
