If you wonder about AI in CoD4, you will be dissapointed: It's not the smartest AI in the world, but I think it does the job fairly well.
Friendly AI:
-Takes 10-15 seconds to respond.
-Aims like Stevie fucking Wonder with a blindfold.
-Barks orders at me all the time yet accomplishes nothing by itself.
-Consistently runs in front of my line of fire and into friendly grenades. I'm glad their aim is crap, otherwise my squad mates would play the game for me. The incessant order barking I haven't really noticed, probably because there's so much shooting going on that I can't hear anything anyways. I did have one point where the SAS guy kept bitching at me to come help him snipe some Russian sods, and I couldn't find where the fuck he was hiding.
In most other instances, what he's saying makes sense anyways, and I was already doing it.
Occasionally the AI will run in front of me, but it's not that often. One time I had a perfect vantage point from which I was laying the smack down on enemies, and private fucking cunthole decided that he was better suited to own that vantage point, and he stepped in front of me. A grenade at his feet made him see the error of his ways
Enemy AI:
-Throw nades with pinpoint precision
-Unlimited supply of nades
-Unlimited spawning at many points in the game..gee..that must be nice
-Is able to pull the trigger .0000001 seconds after you step into view. No human has this kind of reaction time.
-Is able to recover .0000001 seconds after being hit and aim with perfect accuracy. I agree about the grenades thing, which is really annoying. Especially since the only way you even KNOW there is a grenade is because of the stupid console icon that pops up in your screen. You're supposed to be able to listen to the "clink clink" noise of the grenades. Sure. Over the sound of 30 assault rifles being fired?
The unlimited spawning is, in my opinion, just at a few points, and it forces YOU to flank the enemy and drive them from their entrenched positions. I kinda like that.
I don't agree with the last two sentiments. I have no problem taking down guys that foolishly run down the street without cover, why should the AI have any problems with that? If you're dumb enough to run down an open street without cover, you're going to get mowed down. Especially since there's probably at least a dozen guys shooting at you. And the recovery thing? You mean after he's hit? It takes the AI several seconds in my game to recover after he's hit. Several seconds which he usually never gets, I might add. I don't see that instant return fire you're talking about? Maybe on a higher diff level or so.
