Gold - Hellgate: London, Demo Friday

As noted on the Hellgate London Website, Flagship Studios' action/RPG is gold, to be released in North America on October 31. For those unwilling to wait until Halloween for the game to get the hell out of the gate, word is a playable single-player demo is due for widespread release on Friday after debuting on AOL's GameDaily tomorrow:
San Francisco, CA (October 16, 2007) – Demons of London beware! Your reign of terror is officially coming to an end! Electronic Arts, Namco Bandai Games, and Flagship Studios are excited to announce that Hellgate™: London has gone to gold master and will be available exclusively for the PC on October 31st in North America.

"This has been an amazing journey for us and we couldn't be more proud of what we've accomplished," said Flagship Studios CEO, Bill Roper. "We're anxious to get Hellgate: London into gamers' hands and we can't wait to play right along with them."

And for gamers who can't wait until Halloween to get their Demon-slaying on, Flagship Studios is releasing a singleplayer demo this Friday, October 19th.

The singleplayer demo represents just a small taste of the Hellgate: London experience. Gamers can choose from two of the game's six character classes: the Blademaster, a master of swordplay and action-packed melee combat, or the Marksman, a cool, calculating, long-range specialist.

In the demo, these heroes are able to battle through a small handful of storyline and side quests as they adventure through the streets and tunnels around London's Holborn Station.

Hellgate: London combines the depth of role-playing games and the action of first-person shooter titles, while offering infinite playability with dynamically generated levels, items, enemies, and events. Whether online or off, a player creates a heroic character, completes quests, and battles through innumerable hordes of demons to advance through experience levels and branching skill paths. A robust, flexible skill and spell system, highly customizable appearances, and a massive variety of randomly generated equipment allow players to create their own unique hero.

Hellgate Halloween is fast approaching! Stay tuned for more news at: www.hellgatelondon.com.

Though I havn't played it yet, my buddy's in the preorder beta (bout a month now) and he LOVES it. Said it's the most fun he's had in an RPG in a long time. I'll at least give it a shot.

Strange development direction/process with this game, at first it looked great, but then semi-recent (E3 and later) videos made it look like a complete failure to me with low fps, weird movement and hit detection ect. it looked like a cheap first gen MMO. The most recent videos and upcoming demo have definitely improved though, so im going to give this another chance.

I haven't found him myself, but I know where he is. Trying doing a search on YouTube. I saw a video of it the other day.

you know the part in the very beginning of the game where Alyx throws down the plug and you plug it in the socket and she goes "I don't know what I did, but it worked"

Under the bunk bed to the right of the doorway leading out is the gnome.

good luck. I'm trying to blast the gnome off into space as well.

We will all try the demo. That's a given. I just can't see most, or even many, of us paying the fee for a very MMORPG-lite.

I'm interested in this game but certainly not sold. Also, I'm not convinced about the random levels and some of the DX10 effects (like Depth Of Field, which just seems to consist of blurring most of the screen). I'll be checking out the demo and then decide from there. However, I'm certainly not interested in the subscription part for the multiplayer - I don't see how they'll continue to offer a free online service but also offer a paid one along side. Oh well, we'll see on Friday.

I know where he is now...hence my need to play through the game again.

What a PITA, but I'll still do it.
I always just assumed there would be a secret room at the end with it.
Hoping he floats,

There were a few achievements I missed, and the Gnome was one of them. Guess I'll have to play through to find him, not that I mind, EP2 is fantastic. I've already played through it twice. Once a normal run through, and then again with Commentaries on.

Hey good to hear that TF2 has Commentaries. I'll have to load up a temporary game so I can listen to them.

I have to play through the entire game again just becasue of it!

Can't you just do "New Game" and load the chapter (last or 2nd last chapter I think) where he is located and play from there?

Pretty sure you do not need to play the whole game again to complete missed Achievements.

That stupid, annoying garden gnome.

I have to play through the entire game again just becasue of it!

I played through the commentary track a bit last night, but had some small issues with it. First off, the numbering system seemed to break if you don't listen to them in the specific order they expect you to. Second, I was not invulnerable. Imagine my surprise when, a few levels in, I got bored and pulled out my crowbar to kill stuff...
Sh*t for story, but sooooooooo much better than Ep1.
Going to have to work on getting a "perfect" for the end,
Ray

Does TF2 have commentary tracks? I didn't expect it to, being an online game, but that'd be cool.

it does.

sorry to those that care about Hellgate...didn't mean to hijack the thread.

I've had this one on preorder for a few months, game is a blast cant wait for it. Though I doubt I'll use the Pay-to-Play option of the game.

The Orange Box commentaries are fantastic. I've finished EP2 twice, first a normal run through, then with commentaries, it makes it worth the money really, though the episode itself is perhaps the most fun I've had in a single-player FPS since HL2 originally came out. Now I've got to run through the commentaries for Portal.

Does TF2 have commentary tracks? I didn't expect it to, being an online game, but that'd be cool.

Love the game, good to see it coming soon.

Still have CoD4 demo and Frontlines beta that Ive installed but have not even loaded yet.

Haven't tried Frontlines, but if you liked the previous CoD games CoD4 will appeal to you. The beginning of the demo is overwhelming in much the same was the original CoD demo was just a few years back.
