Breaking: Battlefield 3 Leaked Info on DigitalBattle has what are purported
to be leaked details on Battlefield 3, which would be the next installment in
the military shooter series (thanks
GameSpot). This unconfirmed report (EA responded to questions about this
with a "no comment") is said to be based on a Adobe Acrobat document intended for investors, and lists details, including a return to the near-present setting of
BF2, and word on weapons, vehicles, and classes. According to their report the
game will be announced in January, released before the end of 2008, and will
possibly involve a public beta during the summer.
Desertfox that may be done in a mod. Lots of BF mods out there already and that will continue I presume.

Hmmm... I hoped for something like BF 14-18 since we already have modern warfare in BF2 and sci-fi warfare in BF2142...
14-18 with trenches, gas, bi-planes and zeppelins, massive artillery, commander mode with spotter-balloons and runners, over-the-top attacks, the first tanks, 128-player servers etc etc. Could be fun when done the right way.

bizarro2000 i'm with you man, 2142 is a **very** good game. Love it! Love Quake1 more though. 
My guess is bf3 will be worth buying. The number of vehicles sounds great!

I've got every battlefield game except BF:V and I can't see myself picking up anything EA releases, it's usually half assed crap...

They can marry 2142's infantry combat with BF2's vehicles (especially air combat) and keep as much diversity with the unlocks they would have a great BF game.
I know a few of you don't care for or haven't tried 2142 due to BF2, but the game is extremely solid and the infantry combat in 2142 is what should have been in BF2.

Best I evar played was Tribes 2, period.
No other game in history has ever gotten me to buy a couple of copies and had the lifetime of MORE than 5 years gameplay, now thats value for money (especially when it was released on budget then free).

BF2142 is BY FAR the best mulitplayer shooter I have ever played and BY FAR the game I played most in my life and I have played a lot of games in my 40 years so I'm certainly excited to hear that BF3 is in the works.
8 maps in THIS edition, next edition will have 2 maps (and a new title:) )

I already have this, it's called Joint Operations. 100 people multiplayer modern combat.
Seeing the post release support in BF2 I'll pass on this one and all future BF titles.
Anything about speed? I don't want or expect the game to play like UT or Quake.... I just want a soldier that can jump out of the way of tank. A tank should not be able to out corner a human (on foot). Tanks have higher top speeds that human beings...but a huge tank should not accelerate faster than a person in the first 10 meters.... that is jsut my opinion

I was gonna say something about how can you play as a team in a game based on teamplay without any means on communication, then I saw you posted this
I just go in and hack and TK for fun and profit
and figured it would be a wasted effort..

What we need is a proper Tribes game with a Crysis like stunning engine. Yeah lets turn this into a Tribes thread
no matter what EA does, stat whore always find a way to ruin this game.
