yes but it isnt that simple in large scale manufacturing. Its a different set of build models, testing parameters, a different set of emissions tests, different set of QC tests, etc etc

Surely it wasnt worth the money - its marketting - grab the punter by having a headline price then sell them the big one. Waste of time.

Could you not simply add 2 less ports on the same PCB?

The 40 gig drive could be an 80, which failed QC on one platter..

The PS2 BC loss appears odd at first, however, thay have to drop something. For those who want it, buy an 80g.

In any event, IMHO, it's a step in the right directon.

so for £60 you lose 20gb, usb ports, memory card reader and a software feature? Probably cost them more to silkscreen a new mobo. what a waste of time and resources.
