Carbine Studios Unveiled

Carbine Studios reveals themselves to the world, an Orange County, California-based MMORPG developer partnered with NCsoft for an unannounced project "that promises to break new ground in massively multiplayer gaming." Carbine includes 17 former Blizzard employees "including lead and senior developers from the World of Warcraft team," headed up by Kevin Beardslee (a lead developer on WoW), Tim Cain (Fallout programmer and co-founder of Troika), and Jeremy Gaffney (City of Heroes and Asheron’s Call). OCRegister.com has a story up introducing the developer (thanks Veng3ance), saying Carbine admits their debut project is a cross-genre MMOG with some fantasy elements (and dancing).

Acleascius, Trokia's history speaks for itself with it's games.
Hell everyone use to blame Interplay for Taldren's SFC series having major issues until Activision published their last game, and guess what... it was as bug ridden as any of the Interplay published games.
Obsidian did the same thing with KOTOR 2, and NWN's 2.

Hellgate's London team is comprised of quite a few Blizzard Diablo members and so far (even though it's still in beta) is getting quite a bit of bad buzz.

Now look at NCSoft's MMO history (not including quasi-MMO Guild Wars) has a history of making extremly shallow MMO's.

I'm not just pulling shit out of my ass, the facts are all there just go google them, or look through past threads on this website for the games.

You got to be freaking kidding, your blaming Troika for trying to make some of the most complex RPG games for their time?

Coming up short due to publishers not having a fucking clue as to how important flexible time lines are when creating world class RPGs, yet publishers chomping at the bit at the bit for AAA titles.

It's spreading uninformed opinions like yours that kill small and medium developers.

Good luck finding original and independent titles saying shit like that and I bet you complain about games always being the same, sigh.

Hey why don't you just go play madden football 10 or something and stop trying to kill independent and creative PC developers, no wonder they all give up and just make console games now days, clueless gamers.

Trust me, most of the names I have been called you can't translate in any language...they're not even real words as much as a succesion of violent images.

Someone needs to do an MMO with TF2 type graphics. Less work on realism more work on gameplay and content.

I don't care how realistic you make the game. It's still a video game and I'm not going to believe it.

Troika, Obsidian, Taldren. 3 companies that had top talent that could never release a game that was ever stable enough to play from start to finish without show stopping bugs.

Tim and Jeremy have some nice credits to their names, but honestly it takes more then big names to make a good game, especially a MMO.

I could be a janitor for Valve then Blizzard and claim I worked on Half Life 2 and World of Warcraft.

And bug ridden games become the fault of the developer when they say they have completed the game 6 months in advance of Half Life 2, and the game that is shipped is a wreck.

Ever fucking single MMO from PlayNC soft has 1 thing missing from ALL of it's games. SOLID NON-COOKIE CUTTER CONTENT!
COH, COV, TR, AA have all had 1 or 2 'cool' things about them but the actual content of the game was boring as fuck.

As for 'former' employee's, were the people in question actually with the company longer then 1 game? Was any of them the gopher/janitor? And saying you have a guy from Troika (one of the top developers who consistantly released bug ridden games) is not a plus in my book.

Anyone got an exact list of what these folks were responsible for at their previous jobs?

Former WoW developers including the Lead Designer, co-founder of Troika and a guy from CoH and AC. This'll be an MMOG to watch. I just hope it's not yet another generic fantasy wow clone.
