Carbine Studios Unveiled

Carbine Studios reveals themselves to the world, an Orange County, California-based MMORPG developer partnered with NCsoft for an unannounced project "that promises to break new ground in massively multiplayer gaming." Carbine includes 17 former Blizzard employees "including lead and senior developers from the World of Warcraft team," headed up by Kevin Beardslee (a lead developer on WoW), Tim Cain (Fallout programmer and co-founder of Troika), and Jeremy Gaffney (City of Heroes and Asheron’s Call). OCRegister.com has a story up introducing the developer (thanks Veng3ance), saying Carbine admits their debut project is a cross-genre MMOG with some fantasy elements (and dancing).

Troika, Obsidian, Taldren. 3 companies that had top talent that could never release a game that was ever stable enough to play from start to finish without show stopping bugs.

Tim and Jeremy have some nice credits to their names, but honestly it takes more then big names to make a good game, especially a MMO.

I could be a janitor for Valve then Blizzard and claim I worked on Half Life 2 and World of Warcraft.

And bug ridden games become the fault of the developer when they say they have completed the game 6 months in advance of Half Life 2, and the game that is shipped is a wreck.
