Portal Preloads

Steam is now offering preloads of Portal (thanks Voodoo Extreme) so that those interested in the multidimensional puzzle game will be able to fire it off as soon as it goes live a week from tomorrow.

The puzzle aspect is what interests me. There's also a big difference between static portals (Prey) and a portal gun (Portal)

I hope they add the portal gun into episode 3, or atleast hl2 deathmatch

HL2DM requires a few little things first, like support. You know, bug fixing, balance, new maps, etc.

Basically, all of us on the team with the exception of our writer, Eric, were all seniors at DigiPen Institute of Technology.
so while most of the team will use their Portal earnings to pay of college, Erik (Wolpaw) will get all that sweet sweet money to himself...until Chet punches him in the neck and takes it.

it's a sad world we live in.

That is blasphemy.

Get online, load up Team Fortress 2, and let me kill your ass.

I think Portal will be a lot of fun to play, but I do not know if it will quite amaze me. Portals have been in a few games and I have always expected future games to take advantage of them in more interesting ways.
The core experience has been there so this won't be "new" for me.
Almost done with the Prey: puzzle edition pre-load,
Ray

Ah, map packs. Once upon a time, there was this platform where post-release support, for free, was expected! But of course those Pee-Cee users were freedom hating hippies, expecting stuff like that. Welcome to the brave new world of micro transactions. Thank you, Microsoft.

I'm far more excited about Portal than anything else in the Orange box...

I said the same, having expected nothing of TF2. As is fairly obvious, TF2 came out and showed everyone that they didn't spend all that time making a shitty game.

I'm pumped for Portal, but I'm worried about how much content there will be. I'd assume that once the basics got nailed down it would all be mapping and play testing after that, which is why I'm hoping a good mod community builds around Portal. I'd also be willing to pay for Valve made map packs for the game, assuming it's priced fairly.

I'm really hoping a strong mod community springs up around this game to offer more puzzles. I'd love to see a site dedicated to Portal, perhaps a revival of the old Radium HL map site.
