Any suggestions?

I'd swap that 320 MB card for a 512MB one if you can afford it. You'll be thanking me a year down the road...

And if you want it faster, go two drives. You don't even necessarily have to go RAID0 or anything, just having your games etc on a different drive from your OS is a noticeable increase.

Other than that, I'm pretty damn jealous

A quality 500W supply should be sufficient for that setup - reviews on this PS included running similar video cards in SLI (and I will not), so there should be plenty of headroom.

So you decided to go with 4GB instead of 3? I assume just to play it safe, or for future expansion?

Because with rebates, it's actually a few $$$ cheaper, if nothing else!

It's nothing big since they are so cheap, but two DVD burners? Needing to archive lots of stuff?

Because when I copy a CD for use in my truck (and leave the original at home) I like to do disk-to-disk burns and also when I am playing a game I can leave the game CD/DVD in one drive and still use the other for archiving photos, etc.

At that price, it's a no brainer for me.

I've started trying to make computers as quiet as I can, so my preference would be to take out any extra component and use case fan controllers to lower their speeds as much as possible. But that's just me.

if you dig around the PS3 Southwest Ad Spoof link, you'll find a "This is Living" commercial where a guy masturbates while groping a soccer ball.

OK, silly question?

The Silverstone PS photos show a 24-pin main power connector and 4-pin CPU power connector, along with PCIe, floppy, SATA, and molex plugs.

The MB specs show a 24-pin ATX power connector and an 8-pin 12-volt power connector.

This isn't going to be a problem, is it????

Edit - I just downloaded the DFI manual and it says that either a 4- or 8-pin connector can be used for this (8-pin preferred), so no problem.

Edit 2 - going through a few reviews indicates that the unit actually comes with an 8-pin plug but also includes a 4-pin adapter, if needed. Much better.

OK, been refining my choices a bit and here's where I stand right now:

Case - Antec Nine Hundred - $140
PS - Silverstone ST50EF-Plus 500W - $99
MB - DFI Blood Iron P35-T2RL - $140
CPU - Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 - $280
Memory - Crucial Ballistix DDR2 800 (4GB) - $220-$80 rebates = $140
Video - EVGA 8800 GTS 320 MB - $290-$20 rebates = $270
HD - WD Caviar SE16 500GB - $115
DVD - two Samsung 20x SH-S203B burners - $64
Monitor - Samsung 216BW (21.6" widescreen) - $260

grand total of about $1,509 plus tax, etc. at Newegg.

Similar system at Dell was over $1900, IIRC. Not bad, I think. Any suggestions?

Edit - I am going to keep the keyboard - Saitek Eclipse - for now and maybe the mouse - Logitech MX510. Those are minor items I can always address later....

BTW, raw rice does not actually explode birds.

You're just not soaking it in the nitroglycerin long enough.

I LOVED the Sisters of Mercy, though I think I lost their CDs when I moved to the States (grrrr).

Lucretia, My Reflection was one of their most awesome songs.

To be honest, your band sounds pretty good, but Eldridge (Eldritch?) their singer has their really deep, gravelly voice and it sounds kind of strange to hear a girl singing to that music. And you need LOTS more bass.

But hey, it sounds a lot better than when me and my buddies did this, drunk out of our gourds, as an impromptu karaoke one night.

Way off topic (what else is new?), but our new band video's been put up on Youtube.. covering "Lucretia, My Reflection" originally by Sisters of Mercy, playing at the Abbey Lounge.

You may want to cover your ears after the first 22 seconds.

Seriously, lemme know what you think

Isn't that a Nintendo Wii Southwest Ad Spoof? Sure, it doesn't look like their controllers, but I didn't think the PS3 had that kind of game functionality, just Wii Sports Baseball.

I assume they changed the look of the controllers so they wouldn't get sued by Nintendo.
