Hellgate: London Beta Signups

The Hellgate: London Website is now accepting applications from those interested in participating in closed beta testing of Hellgate: London, Flagship Studios' upcoming action/RPG (thanks Voodoo Extreme). Word is that alpha testers need not reapply, entering more than once may disqualify you, content in the beta is covered by an NDA, and, humorously: "Signing up doesn't guarantee an invite, but does raise your chances significantly in receiving one."

Thats not true, they have actually tried to insist on people that it IS a MMOG.

And since when do you not pay for any expansions? Even regular $15 a month MMOGs put out expansions (some every 8 months it seams,) that come with their own costs.

I'm not trying to defend the company. IMHO their pricing model is a bit screwy, but I'm not planning on paying for their added content anyway, unless of course the game absolutely rocks.

Your pissed cause the best stuff and the content updates will only available if you pay to play? Welcome to MMOGs

Except they say it's not an MMO. But they want you to pay monthly. AND that doesn't include potential expansions...

You do know there is a really good fully functional game here that you don't have to pay to play right?

It's hard to give this game the benefit of the doubt after reading all the news surrounding it.

Wait for the reviews as always.

Some of you guys are such cynics. You wish the game to burn in hell cause it's early Dx10 client ran like crap? WTF is that all about?

I never said i want the game to burn in hell nor i am pissed i just don't care about this game. It turned me off, and i am careless about it.

You signed up for beta and got in already Trimethicon? Damn!

Your pissed cause the best stuff and the content updates will only available if you pay to play? Welcome to MMOGs. At least it isn't using micro-transaction system that is plaguing the consoles right now, and ending up costing people $100+ a game if they want everything that rightfully should have been there in the first place.

I'll sign up, if I get in, cool. If not, I'll wait for a demo. If I like it, I'll buy it. It does look like the spiritually successor of Diablo II. Though I have friends that are huge D2 fans and they aren't very interested.. the reason? Cause it's kinda scifi. IMHO that's what makes it interesting.

They need to learn that Diablo 3 will probably never happen. Even if it did, everyone who made D1/2 are now gone, and it'd be a completely different game. Not Diablo 2 with 3d graphics and a new 'hell' to explore.

I didn't really hear about this game until a few months ago, and then it was just some brief info. The general plot and such sounded interesting and seemed like it could be a cool game. Sure it isn't super-original but it seemed like a solid premise.

Then I heard it was a psuedo-MMORPG, with a fee and all of that. Then the other little tidbits of bad news.

Now I really don't care, though I still like the premise.

I stopped caring about this game a long time ago when they showed the new DX10 stuff off in the game like the rain and smoke effects and the thing was running like 3 fps.

How much does the beta cost if you want access to exclusive items? Do they offer a $100 Beta Lifetime subscription?

;p

Hmm. I'm thinking I won't even sign up for this. Just too many things about this game annoy me. When I first heard about it, it sounded cool, but now...

I think I'll pass on this one altogether
