Hellgate: London Beta Signups

The Hellgate: London Website is now accepting applications from those interested in participating in closed beta testing of Hellgate: London, Flagship Studios' upcoming action/RPG (thanks Voodoo Extreme). Word is that alpha testers need not reapply, entering more than once may disqualify you, content in the beta is covered by an NDA, and, humorously: "Signing up doesn't guarantee an invite, but does raise your chances significantly in receiving one."

Maybe its me but I have no idea what this game is about beyond hellish things, wielding swords and guns, and the ability to use magic. In a nutshell can someone tell me what this is about and why I should be interested? Pretend you had to sell me. *puts on bullshit goggles*

Gotta love dumbass companies like Flagshit who can't even run a website but expect people to trust them to be able to run an entire online game and service. Buncha n00bs can go and fuck themselves. This was the nail in the coffin of the last remaining little bits of my interest in this fucking piece of shit asshole game.

Maybe we have to pay extra to just get to the page to sign up for the pre-order beta?

Wow. Pretty slick web-page there.

Like posters above me, I have a pre-order (it was a birthday gift) and I'm supposed to get the beta code. GoGamer never sent me the code, though.

Clicking on the "Sign up for the Beta!" link on the Hellgate page gives me a 403 "Forbidden" error. Going to http://www.hellgatelondon.com/beta reveals "if you have a pre-order beta code, redeem it here..." which just goes back to the 403 page.

Not exactly confidence inspiring.

So how the hell do you sign up for an account? I preordered the game and will be getting a beta key, but according to their beta page you STILL need an account. Where the hell is the sign up?

Your supposed to have a "Hellgate London account", but (unless I'm looking with typical domestic male blindness) I'm damned if I can find out how to get one. It doesn't seem like an incredibly well designed site.

Oh I have no plans on using the Pay to Play portion of the game. I'll probably only play single-player. Depends on if any of my friends get it to however.

Sounds to me like your just not a MMOG player, and Hellgate: London is for all intents and purposes, a MMOG. If it's like most, Flagship will release content updates on a regular basis, and then expansions will introduce new areas, new parts to the story, such like that.

Sounds like anyone that pays the monthly fee is just begging for the reaming they're going to get.

Have fun with your Bill Roper Manwich!

You beat me to the punch AhrimaaN. I was going to say "Our totally free Beta lets you play all you want, but every 7 minutes we flash a siezure-inducing pattern on the screen coupled with the scientifically most annoying sound ever created. If you wish to enable the 'enhanced' version of the game, complete with a 'siezure filter' and other premium content, simply pay 5.99 per week and become an ELITE BETA TESTER!"

Bah! I have no FP paid account.

Hellgate doesn't look too MMOish, but I don't know.. I haven't really seen much of the multiplayer aspect. If it's got a main hub for meeting up with people, then I'd call it an MMO. Only because GW calls itself an MMO and works the same way (albeit, cheaper).

I figure I'll try the demo/beta out and if it's good, I'll get it for the singleplayer aspect, which is hopefully more than a few hours long.

And since when do you not pay for any expansions? Even regular $15 a month MMOGs put out expansions (some every 8 months it seams,) that come with their own costs.

Because they they try and justify the monthly fee as covering new content?
