Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars Demo & Chat Near

The Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars Website has a reminder that the demo for Splash Damage's now-gold teamplay shooter will be released today, specifying 1:00 p.m. Eastern time as when the download will become available. There's also a note about the promised IRC session to chatter about the release, and the chat will kick off in under a half-hour, at 12:15 p.m. Eastern time:
As covered in the blog last week, the Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars Demo will be released later today! The official release time is 10 AM Pacific / 6 PM British / 7 PM Central European. We are going to have a list of mirrors here on the site once the demo is released.

Leading up to the actual demo release, we are going to have an IRC chat with members of the development team in the official ETQW IRC channel. You'll be able to submit your questions during the chat, so this is a great chance for you to get information straight from the people behind the game. The details for the chat are as follows:

Network: irc.quakenet.org Channel: #quakewars Chat Start Time: 9:15 AM Pacific / 5:15 PM British / 6:15 PM Central European

You will need a chat client such as mIRC or xchat in order to participate. We hope to see you there!

I tried the long process of making cd image files and all that, like the help site suggested but it didnt work. Bringing a copy over from another HD doesnt work either because of a REG key change. So there went my BF2 days. The ET site is down now, so they're probably putting it up
. To bad I have to leave for work in 15 min

Sweet, the demo is up. I'm anxious to see what changes they've made from Beta 2 as that was already in essentially releasable condition. It'll be nice to have some more populated servers as well.

Off topic (but based on new games like ET:Quake Wars), but would like to get an opinion from you guys on the video card I just bought from newegg:

HIS Hightech H195PRF512DDAN-R Radeon X1950PRO 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X HDCP Ready Video Card

I bought this card because I don't want to have to update my entire rig for PCI express, I'd like to use AGP for as long as I can, this card looks like it should handle games like Bioshock (supports SM 3.0) and hopefully games like Quake Wars.

Do you think this is a good card? It will be added to a rig with a 3 Ghz CPU, 2 Gig of RAM. I hope that can last me another year or two.

This game is very Meh... It's a little boring, as someone said earlier it's all been done before. I'll try the demo cause it's free, but I doubt that paying for this game is in my future. I hung up my BF2 addiction a while back and this just feels like more of that. Crysis looks cool though!

"I just want to play a couple of rounds before i go to work. This better be worth it, i've been waiting for a new FPS since BF2 is no longer supported by EA and doesnt even work on vista."

That's...odd...I was able to get BF2 running very well on a Vista -laptop- without any voodoo...

WTF its not that bad at all, at least for me, no lag, shots hit where I aim, plenty of options in the game, and its at least not a WW2 themed shooter. For my money its worth it, but then agian I dont rely on one game i play several at a time so im not gonna be upset if its not perfect.

To me it is. Nothing interesting. The game offers stuff that has been done before millions of times. If this game came out when BF1942 than yeah this would have been a good game, but i was bored playing the beta.

Yeah Crysis is hyped but at least that is a game that looks interesting, unlike Quake wars

As if Crysis isn't hyped up?

Quake Wars was way too hyped, but it's far from a shitty game.

Bioshock, Crysis, Quake Wars, HL2:Episode 2/Portal/TF2, Gears of War PC, Unreal Tournament 3... it's going to be a good Q4. :-)
