The End Announced

This press release reveals development of The End, an Unreal Engine 3 first-person shooter from Farmarix Enterprises planned for release in 2009 (thanks FiringSquad). The release bandies about the phrase "next generation," often a codeword for (this generation) consoles, but concentrates on establishing the game's "AAA" bona fides based on the engine license. This job opening post indicates PC and Xbox 360 are the game's target platforms, and offers a bit on the story:
Miles Caden is haunted by his past. Once a proud military officer and happy family man, he now lives in a perpetual state of regret. Not long after the fateful accident that left him and his best friend dishonorably discharged, he lost his wife to a tragic car accident. Depressed and desolate, he slips into a life of alcoholism. Only his cousin, Chaz, took him in, as he was forsaken by the rest of his family. Nothing seemed to be going right, until one day Chaz offered Miles the chance to get back his dignity. A chance to pull his life together. But nothing comes for free, and Miles has to decide how much he's willing to lose in order to regain his former self.

Or for example the Engine that Freedom Force and Star Trek Bridge Commander Used? Same engine, 2 totally different styles of games.

Dude, you tard. Just because games are using the same engine doesn't (have to) mean that they will look virtually identical. Take GameBryo for example. Oblivion and Sid Meier's Pirates! are both based on GameBryo and they look totally different (not even using the same perspective).

Yay the 1'001st game licensing UE3. Come on people, how bout a little more variety. I'm gonna be so sick of every damn game in the next 2 odd years looking virtually identical. Theres plenty of other great engines out there, why does everyone and their bloody grandmother have to use the UE3 one?
