Basically this is equivalent to putting lipstick on a pig. Sure, in its day it was the MMOG to play. But since then there are so many other treadmills out there to choose from. I tried the trial because I thought the screens looked nice, but once I was in the game for a bit it just felt old and creaky. As much as I hate EA for the way they treat their customers/employees I must give them kudos for keeping this thing on life support for so long.

I played this game for about 9 years. Quit last month.

Simply put, everythign that was fun about this game was slowly undone and destroyed over the last 4 years. There is nothing left but a broken shell of what was once a great game and a fun time.

The 3d client was completly taken out of the game. You can now use the broken ass reborn client or the 2d (vomit) client. It's no fun, it's unfair, the eonemy is so broken you can pay 1 million gold for a loaf of bread. The game was so great and now it is a dumbed down and at the same time over complicated POS.

I was in the beta for this, which was actually pre-alpha quality. This was actually officially released a while back, when it was barely playable. Now they are getting really close to features complete, I believe, though the client is only early beta quality. I find that I have the client usually starts locking up after about a hour of play, so you have to exit, then reload the program. On exit it usually crashes, no matter how long I've been playing. The preliminary item hue system is still in, so some items look down right aweful right now. They are apparently working on proper hue system that has not been completed yet. There are still creatures and clothing that are using placeholder artwork. Same old botched job of what should have been a major launch, but that's typical of UO. That being said it's still a good game, and at some point the new client will become stable.

i quit wow a few months ago and have been craving that interactivity you get from a mmo, but haven't been able to find it. ironically, i've been playing diablo 2 again and this game looks to have the same type of graphics and angled view. this any fun? i'm not picky about graphics so much as i am for interactivity.

and as big a blizzard fan as i am, i never played starcraft either. any suggestions?

Wow, good 'ole UO, I have great memories of that MMORGP. Some great adventuring, got ganked 100's of times, but it was all fun.

On some servers the community was just awesome, the towns were always alive, people crafting, buying, selling, just seemed better then todays MMO towns, everybody just running to the bank and hauling ass.

Not sure I could ever play this again, total burnout, played it way to much back in the day, the level/skill grind of all these MMO's instantly burns me out now.

Good memories.

I think this and Starcraft are in a pissing match to see which game will last longer, support wise.
