Arma 2 is based on the latest generation technology, offering large –scale game world, authentic and extremely detailed modern units, weapons, vehicles and environments, challenging single player and vast array of multiplayer options.

The second optional mission is to go behind enemy lines, once again all by yourself, to blow up about a half dozen enemy tanks single handed

sneak up the hill, kill the guard in the valley, put a det pack on the first APV, climb up the hill detonate and get your rpg out, shoot other 2 tanks while the soldiers are near them (explosion will kill them too) then there are only a few left to shoot. run back to your boat where you will see a heli blow it up... then it gets tough.

I loved that mission; it's a learning mission, it forces you into almost every type of encounter. This was the hardest one for me, but you learn alot and makes the rest of the game somewhat easier. You will have to search the dead and take thier weapons, learn to use grenades and your gun is amazingly acurate too.

The profits made off Virtual battlespace probably don't hurt either.

didn't think it sold that well besides.
Well with OFP shifting seven figures, I'd imagine that (1) they aren't completely strapped for cash, and (2) even poorish sales for ArmA should be very respectable with a fan-base that size. I'd guess they're doing okay.

ArmA is pretty much what you make of it, they released the basic game and it's up to modders to make it shine. I'm sort of surprised that they're investing in ArmA 2 being they're such a small studio and all. Seemed pretty difficult for them to get publishers interested in the first one and I didn't think it sold that well besides.

The game crashed for me too, until I lowered the graphics settings. Try lowering, I think, the level of detail. Yes its a bug with the game.

I love OFP and and I like ArmA. my problem is though after 30 mins of play the game crashes. I will be playing the game and then all of the sudden I will see the full screen image of my solder's SKIN on screen like a JPEG Image. and then the game will crash and only way to fix it is to reboot my comp. I have a Geforce 8800GT 640mb of memory. has to be a bug with the game. I have not had a single problem with any other game and I have the latest drivers. so yeah ARMA is a good game except it seems to be buggy.

Arma is impossible now because of a bad implementation of AI awareness. If you shoot, the AI has an exact fix on your location regardless of distance or cover, when they should have an approximation based on distance and cover.

If BI stops greeding out over the queens gambit expansion or ArmA 2, then maybe they'll fix this.

heh, maybe this one won't be IMPOSSIBLE.

Rev. Norb: I'd just like to say that four for a dollar Tijuana tacos seemed like a good idea at the time. Please pass the toilet paper.

So, I really like realistic military games. I played Hidden and Dangerous 1 and 2 several times through back in the day. Armed Assault seemed to fit that niche so I tried it out. Now, I don't mind total realism, one shot one kill gameplay. But even considering that, Armed Assault just seemed WAY too hard.

I got through the first mission without getting killed after a couple of tries. Then I get to the second mission, with two optional missions.

The first optional mission is to go out, as a lone sniper, to kill an entire platoon of enemy troops single handed.

The second optional mission is to go behind enemy lines, once again all by yourself, to blow up about a half dozen enemy tanks single handed.

Now its one thing if this were Quake or something, and I were able to mow down rows of enemies while shrugging off my own wounds. But its not -- the missions are just as impossible as they would be in real life. They are suicide missions. In the second mission of the game.

I really like the idea of Armed Assault, but its missions seemed literally impossible so I just gave up.

SirKnight i haven't played OFP and I agree mostly with what you say except that ArmA isn't quite as bad as a 'poop' game. It does need a lot of optimization and more intuitive controls though. ArmA definitely has some nice moments though. I got my money's worth.

I'll consider getting ArmA 2 if the reviews are alright for it. I expect improvement over ArmA 1 though.

I hope this will be what ArmA was supposed to have been (ie. not a piece of poop). Maybe by looking at the quality of ArmA, it's obvious they have been spending most of their time on this "Game 2" (now ArmA 2). ArmA feels like a VERY unfinished and rushed job to just get something out (probably just to get more funding for Game 2).

I've been playing OFP and OFP:Resistance a lot lately. Good stuff.

I think they should rename the game though. ArmA is a really gay name.

Sweeeeeeeeet. I would have preferred an expansion or something to the first ArmA, but this will work too I guess.
