BioShock Widescreen Woes [Aug 21, 2007, 9:52 pm ET] – Share – Viewing Comments

messed up ... on the 2K Forums has hundreds of posts about problems with
widescreen monitor support in BioShock impacting both PC and Xbox 360 owners. At
issue is how images are expanded and cropped to accommodate widescreen modes,
meaning widescreen users actually get less image than fullscreen users, a
situation bordering on irony. There is no good news from 2K or the studio
formerly known as Irrational on the forum, and our attempt to contact 2K about
this directly has met with no response so far.
This game is far from untested. I can't speak to this widescreen issue as I personally am not experiencing it (I'm running widescreen with no issues) but this is one of the most polished titles I've seen in years. I've heard about the Audigy issue as well but my tenant is using my old Audigy 2 and is having no problems either. I don't disagree that these are important issues that need to be addressed but at least Ken Levine himself (not some low-level 2K moderator) responded, apologized and said he's trying to get answers, even though his team is on what undoubtedly is a well-earned vacation. Compared to what passes as acceptable quality these days though, this is a gem.
