It has been done before so many times. When games like Crysis, and COD4.

i found CoD to be too much over scripted, not enough freedom. you were lead from objective to objective with not much else in between. shallow imo.
Crysis, well that does look promising.

I have experienced some of the worst teamwork (and I use the term loosely) in any online game with this beta.

And I've experienced some of the best public server teamwork I have ever seen in an online first person shooter.

I simply do not understand why people are not liking this game. I've probably logged more hours into the two betas than I have in all of the BF games combined. Simply a very, very entertaining and exciting game.

As for the vehicles, they tightened them up substantially for Beta 2. They're actually a lot of fun to drive now. I love pulling the hand brake of the humvee and powersliding into a group of Strogg, then jamming the accelerator and getting out of there before any of their buddies can respond. Air vehicels still arn't great but I imagine once they implement joystick controls they ought to be better.

Good luck with that. I have experienced some of the worst teamwork (and I use the term loosely) in any online game with this beta. And before someone says, "it's a beta", it has been out long enough to where people should know what they are doing.

Every online FPS has this problem now, and it's killing the genre. The only way out of this tail-spin is to take some risks, and we all know that will never happen.

on the official forums my posts are under the name "Houdini"..if anyone here is a poster there.

Really pointless to post on the official forums, you’ll just get called out for being a ‘Battlefield 2 n00b’ or something to that effect.

As it is I think the game would play horribly if they slowed the players down, they’re intent on satisfying the twitch crowd with this game ‘beta 2 restores the player speed to beta 1 levels’ they slowed it down a tad for beta 2 version 1.0 and there were complaints.

I don’t think the graphics are horrible but I don’t think they’ll hold up at all to Crysis or UT3, they’re barely on par with Battlefield 2 if you can max out your settings in QW. Trees and foliage look much worse though.

Some of the sound fx are pretty bad, the GDF soldier voices are over processed and sound more alien than the Strogg.

I loved Quake II both single and multiplayer, Wolf:ET is extremely fun even to this day. Having slightly larger maps, vehicles tacked on and deployable turrets doesn’t add anything to either game.

They should have based the gun play off of Quake II and added the objective gameplay from Wolf:ET, no need for player classes or vehicles, if they wanted automated deployable turrets they should have been much smaller and more like Team Fortress.

Overall this game looks much better in screenshots than it actually plays, somewhere between ‘hey, let’s make a Wolf:ET game with Quake assets’ and the solidified design decisions something went wrong, very wrong.

When games like Crysis, and COD4 coming out this game does not get me excited at all.

I agree. I too am looking forward to games where the multiplayer in it's predecessor was medicore, largely unplayed, and unproven, and a game where a highly touted feature is the ability to shoot through nearly any wall.

...when you get on a server where people might actually have a clue as to how the various classes are supposed to work together...

Good luck with that. I have experienced some of the worst teamwork (and I use the term loosely) in any online game with this beta. And before someone says, "it's a beta", it has been out long enough to where people should know what they are doing.

Also, I agree with the other posters regarding the game's tempo. Some of the features just don't seem to match the pace of the game.

I want to add my .02 cents, I am enjoying the beta2. Its got a steep learning curve, but most peeps are catching on now. So i am keeping my Pre-Order.

you all must be talking about the old beta, cause they fixed most of the problems and if you want to run and gun you can do that here you want to plod along slowley then do that to slow the F down. bots are smart and complete objectives and drive properly. I love the graphics esp cranked up to max with 16fsaa no slowdowns.

I'd love to be able to play the beta 2 without it crashing everytime I try to start it up. Beta 1 worked fine. I hope this gets fixed before the retail version is released.

"The tempo of the game feels messed up, some of the game play elements want it to be a slow tactical shooter and others a frag a second type shooter."

YES. I have said this since day 1.
The speed of the game, does not match the features it has.

I don't think we're playing the same beta then. Beta2 is a marked improvement over beta 1. Vehicles don't bounce around like they are made of flubber anymore, the weapons and hitboxes have been greatly improved, and when you get on a server where people might actually have a clue as to how the various classes are supposed to work together the game really begins to be a lot of fun.

I fail to see how the graphics look "horrid" as well. To my surprise, the screenshots shown during the game's initial build up before beta are actually what I am seeing on my screen with a 7950GT

Simply this game is a pile of poo, I have no idea why this has been in production for so long considering they didn't have to make an engine from scratch. The graphics look pretty horrid, the animations and movement arn't realistic and the vehicales are probably some of the worst that I've ever played with in a game.
Ingame adds, a bullshit beta (I mean it was all marketing hype to get people to sign up to fileplanet!) and basically a all round poor game means this one is to be avoided.
I agree with the whole mixed up tempo, quake is basically a twitch game where aim is the most important thing and they have tried to add that to tactical play which doesn't work!
One question, why the hell they calling it a beta still? the games out soon and I bet you that the final product will be exactley the same and still have all the bugs.

The tempo of the game feels messed up, some of the game play elements want it to be a slow tactical shooter and others a frag a second type shooter.

Deploy an artillery gun on the map (wait for that to happen), get into position to target the enemy, select your targeting laser and hold it down for six seconds (that is if you can because it also gives up your position with a green laser beam), wait for the artillery barrage – or just skip all the above and run over and toss a targeting beacon down for an airstrike.

Sorry but the vehicles are still totally lacking in the physics department, they totally remind me of Nova Logics Joint Operations vehicles, form 2004 or so.

now i can play with bots right from the startup screen instead of making a server. Im just about ready to go online now that i have all the game sorted, Its like fast paced but tactical, seems like all run and gun till you realize the depth and start completing objectives. so far im looking foward to this one.
