I just hope it has many hours of gameplay. More than 20 and I'll be happy. 10 or less and I won't buy it.

well, when that one guy was talking about how this is the first game ever where AIs fight each other, i was thinking "have you been living in a cave?" because that is clearly old old old hat.. and claiming it as "revolutionary" is s few steps beyond stupid

but the reason they keep harping on the "grounbreaking, revolutionary" angle is because they have to - thats marketing for ya

and at this point in my life, i have become immune to marketing hype.. so i draw my own speculative conclusions on whether or not i want to try the game based on more raw data when available (and which is hard to come by)

im definately going to play this, but then again I enjoyed system shock .. altho i didnt worship it like an altar of gaming perfection - that kind of emotional connection to any game is more personal than technical.. more specific to tastes than pure design

Hopefully this will be the first excellent FPS since Far Cry and HL2.

The past couple of years worth of FPS releases have been underwhelming or bug ridden. Let's hope BioShock isn't.

Supposedly all the media they've released for the game has been from the very early stages, as to not spoil too much.

System Shock 2 managed a variety of environments even though it was all set on a ship, and while all the decks were thematically quite similar (especially with the tiny texture budgets they had back then) they played quite differently, partly depending on your progress.

Engineering for example was cramped and filled with radioactive waste, zombies and twisty corridors while the rec deck was open and infested by the many - a contrast to FEAR where while new enemies were occasionally added the vast bulk of the combat and the way you moved through the level stayed the same from beginning to end.

I have a bad feeling about this, this game might suffer from FEARitis (office complex after office complex).

BioShock "offers" one underwater environment after the other. How interesting can that be in the long term? How many different underwater environment can they really design?

How many spoilers have you seen? All I know is it takes place in a underwater city, there is a little kid, her protector, psycho's, turrets, robotic flying sentrys, way trippy drugs, and guns.

Other then that I know very little about the story of the game, except your plane crashes and ya start at the entrance to an underwater city.

And personally upgrading to my new (almost uber) system I just wanna find the spot in the city with the water rolling down the stairs and watch it for an hour

Yea I seriousely doubt this is going to be a revolutionary title for the simple fact its coming out on 360 and they generally dumb games down like this - check oblivion.

Did anyone notice the video was the 360 version I could tell by slow aiming. From the video it looks a bit cartooney I was hoping it would be more realistic looking. also the blood effects seem terrible like big globs of paint as opposed to a blood spray. Graphically this game is nothing special. So whats so revolutionary about this game? Like Jonphan sais it seems to have nothing that hasn't been done before. I can't help thinking that the revolutionary term is only for the 360 as all console shooters really are mega basic in comparison to PC versions.

I will most definately be giving this a try, who knows it might be really fun!

Okay I don't understand all the excitement about this game.

Simple:

These guys made one of the best first-person RPGs EVER, and this is its spiritual successor.

You're mostly right about the other stuff, but that one single fact gives it some serious legs. This is going to be anything but a run-of-the-mill shooter, even though the foundations may be similar in many regards; people get too wound up in features comparisons when looking at new games and forget that there really aren't many novel ideas left these days -- it's what the developers do with them that counts... and for this team, there is no try

I can't wait to play it. I already know I'm a fan. But that said, I do expect a large number of people to be sorely disappointed due to all the hype and speculation that's dogged it.

Okay I don't understand all the excitement about this game. It's a shooter, they've been done before, many times. I even thought that the special features they showed weren't all that groundbreaking. That dark atmosphere and mystery of the environments seem like the most interesting features. Not one thing mentioned in that video about multiplayer, which is my favorite thing.

So what.. The big guy in the antique diver suit protects the little girl! OOOOOOoooOOOO... Also they mention how the monsters might fight each other. This was done well in Doom back in 1993, and that had a better 'anger' or 'rage' effect IMO.

WTF throw some some mediocre features into a game and people start salivating and oooing and ahhhing.

We'll see if its revolutionary. I'm suspect.

Perpetual debt is slavery.

This game is really getting tons of marketing. There have been like 50 teasers/trailers/video clips. Then you have all the features, previews, blogs, competitions, etc. While this helps increase the chances of the game being a success, it also means lots of spoilers. I've avoided most of the recent videos and previews as a result.
